ICDU: Your Best source for Tips, Tricks, Mods, and Information on ICD Markers

Introduction The Indian Creek Designs Bushmaster 2000 was released in 1998, as competition to other electro- pneumatic markers like the WDP . The prototype marker had been around since late 1996. Named after a previous pump marker also designed by Jerry Dobbins when he was part of Line SI (as well as the commonly available version of the M-16 Assault Rifle), the Bushmaster (or “Bushy” for short) is commonly referred to as a “B2k#” where ‘#’ is the year of manufacture. For example, a 2004 Bushmaster would be referred to as a B2k4. “Gen” references are also more common among the tinkerers among us. The Gen was done to distinguish between the different milled body styles. The word “Bushmaster” was later dropped due to copy right infringement with the assault rifle. Now, the term B2K refers to all Bushies produced before 2004, and B2k4 refers to the Bushies made after 2004.

This time line has been reviewed by several ‘authorities,’ but is by no means the last word. If you have additional information, or corroborated proof of an error, then by all means, please contact me (DarrylHadfield) at ICDO and let me know so I can update this document.

Date of last update: June 1st, 2007.

Gen 1 Bushmaster 2000

In 1998, Indian Creek Designs produced their first electro-pneumatic marker, and called it the Bushmaster.

This first generation came in only a very simple, very boxy milling pattern. Single colors of black or clear were the only option.

The Gen1 Bushmasters ran from Serial # 0001 through 1500.

The solenoid that runs the core pneumatic functions was a Parker 3-way solenoid, mounted to a manifold which in turn was mounted to the main body of the marker.

The High Pressure Regulator (HPR) was a direct-screw in (up?!) that could not be replaced with an aftermarket regulator unless you also purchased a new vertical ASA.

A low-rise feed-neck was standard on this marker, as was a single piece delrin bolt held in place by an aluminum pull pin. Ball Stops consisted of a single -style screw-in ball detent.

The .45 style trigger frame can still be found in circulation as of the writing of this document; many other types have been produced as aftermarket add-ons. The two-finger trigger had started to gain popularity, despite later being changed to a blade-style.

Early boards had a 12 pin configuration. Later electronics consisted of an 8200 board (with a 22 pin header), which is somewhat difficult to find now. The board had 4 firing modes, was capped at 13bps in semi-automatic mode, and 9bps in other modes.

The Battery tray didn’t have an access panel to change the 9v battery without removing the tray from the body. The first 150 of these models had an adjustable cylinder assembly. This was later dropped due to patent infringement with the Angel cylinder.

Gen 2 Bushmaster 2000

The second generation Bushmaster 2000 was essentially the first generation, but with newer teardrop milling and offered in additional colors (as well as in a high-gloss finish) than the original black and silver. Miscellaneous problems from the first generation were corrected in this newer model.

Gen 3 Bushmaster 2000

The third generation Bushmaster offered slightly different teardrop milling from the second gen model (the bottom edge of the ‘teardrops’ are all aligned at the bottom edge, as shown in the image). The LPR adjuster was changed to be slotted instead of dual holes (so it could now be adjusted with a coin), and a high-rise feedneck was incorporated to address chopping issues.

Gen 4 Bushmaster 2000

The Gen 4 Bushmaster featured ‘fishbone’ milling in addition to the Gen 3 Style teardrop milling. The battery door is now milled into the tray to offer faster battery changes, and a slightly new style of dome sticker (commonly referred to as a “Jewel”) came on the outside of the battery door.

Gen 5 Bushmaster 2000

The new Gen 5 bushmaster has an updated high pressure regulator that features a new plunger and a heavier spring to handle pre-set high-pressure tanks that output at 800+ PSI. The LPR was also revised to accommodate faster recharge and higher air flow. Serial numbers for Gen 4 and 5 Bushmasters were between 7200 and 7299, Gen 5's guaranteed were 7300+

Gen 5 Bushmaster 2000 with LCD

The Bushmaster 2000 II was essentially a Gen5 but with a new 22 pin 8200 board with 8 fire modes (instead of the original 4), but still with the 13bps max ROF.

The new board also handles support for the LCD mounted at the back of the tray, which shows ROF, Mode, Game Timer, and Shot Counter. The daughter board in the tray also supports the upcoming “ Detection System” (PDS).

Gen 6 Bushmaster 2000

The Gen 6 Bushmaster 2000 built on the legacy by incorporating a new “X milled” body (designed by Jerry Dobbins) - This marked the end of the TearDrop and Fishbone milling. The barrel was redesigned as a single-piece 12” unit, and a new smaller 700psi HPR gauge replaced the old larger Ashcroft Gauge.

Available with optional LCD

Gen 8 Bushmaster 2000

The Gen 8 Bushmaster 2000 sported a new 2 piece 12" aluminum barrel. The HPR plunger was changed to delrin for higher performance.

The Gen 8 also comes in 4 milling version, X, Frostbite, Flame and a Special Edition (shown) The special edition was designed by Hawk Dobbins, and is actually a milled defiant body. There were only two Special Editions made.

Available with optional LCD

Gen 8 GS “Frostbite” Bushmaster

The Gen 8 Bushmaster 2000 GS FrostBite Edition (designed by Greg Schutte) came with a 2 piece matching anodized 12" aluminum barrel, window milling on upper tube with milled aluminum insert, and a new LPR adjustment cap with hex key adjustment.

A new ASA adapter and In-Line HPR and new 2- piece pull pin with pawn hat added to the ‘newness’ of this marker.

Available with or without LCD, and with or without PDS

Gen 8 Flame Bushmaster

The Gen 8 Flame Bushmaster 2000 was essentially the same as the other Gen8 markers, but with the highly distinctive Flame body (designed by Hawk Dobbins).

This flame design was actually a second version. The original version was designed by Chris Moores of Alpine Precision for the local Idaho team “Aftermath.”

GregICD has one of the original versions, with a T1 kit (shown to the right).

Gen 9 Bushmaster 2000

A cry of joy was heard in the ICD owners’ community when the Gen9 was released; a standard In-Line ASA threaded regulator became standard issue.

Also, the steel ball detent was switched to Teflon.

The Gen9 was available in X-mill, GS Flame and GS FrostBite milling.

Also available with or without PDS and with or without LCD.

Gen 10 Bushmaster 2000

(aka 2002.5)

The 2002.5 was a Gen 9 with the new 2003 body design. This marked the end of the X milled bodies. The gun bodies are now coming in a bead blast matte style non-glossy finish; despite the earlier announcement that a standard inline ASA would be the new status quo, some of these were available with the ASA adapter and in-line regulator while others still came with the old direct screw in regulator.

This model still had the original screw in ball detent, but the LPR housing was changed to be slightly curvier.

This was the first body to have the optional PDS more “integrated” into the design through countersunk eye covers.

LCD was available in very limited quantities.

2003 Bushmaster 2000

(aka b2k3)

The 2003 Bushmaster 2000 expanded on the 2002.5. This was really a whole new Bushmaster!

The nicest change was the new style 45 frame like other high end guns of the time. Combined with this was a trigger spring mounted behind the trigger with a tension adjustment screw, and 3 trigger pivot point options, a first for any frame.

New PDS eye covers were available for the optional PDS system, and dual sided O ring detents replace the old ball detent on one side. A new 9300 33.3bps board mounted in the new grip frame. The battery was relocated to the grip frame instead of having it in the tray.

The internal end cap of the LPR was shortened, and the valve spring lengthened. This was to increase the air volume in the chamber while also reducing the ram pressure.

The valve was been altered slightly and used only a single O ring.

This marked the end of the LCD versions. No 2003's were built with the LCD option.

Later models of the 2003 Bushmaster 2000 included a reversion to a low-rise feedneck, since hopper speeds began to increase, negating the need for the ball stack. The 9300 board was capped at 25bps to avoid going full auto - due to vibrations from being fired. The 2 piece pull pin went back to a 1 piece due to breakage issues. Barrel threading was changed to ‘cocker style on PDS versions and the late-2003 model non-PDS versions.

A very select few late in 2003 had a prototype of the new 2004 high pressure regulators as seen on the 2004 Bushmaster.

2004 Bushmaster 2000

(aka “B2k4”)

The 2004 Bushmaster 2000 was again a release that included many significant changes. Most noticeable was the new finish, which was available in an all matching reverse fade polished anodized finish.

Autococker barrel threading became the new standard on this model. A new higher performing HPR was issued for this model as well.

The B2k4 was still available with or without PDS, although the majority of B2k4’s are presumed to have been produced with PDS.

Two interesting aesthetic points to note are that the On/Off switch orientation has been changed, and that PDS models came with wrap around rubber grips, while non-PDS models shipped with side plates

ICD had planned on using a new higher flowing solenoid in this model but after testing, the new solenoid and manifold were dropped. The 04 model comes with the same solenoid and manifold found in the 2003 models. This model was the first b2k to be outsourced for production.

Thunderstruck Bushmaster

According to Greg, there were 13 bodies made. 12 were fabricated and prepped for use; one body (CL322) was held in reserve in case it was necessary. 4 of the 12 fabricated bodies were damaged and were disposed, which leaves only 8 thunderstruck markers in existence, plus CL322 which was only a spare body and tube (un- anodized), with no tray. Efforts are being made to source the locations and owners of the other remaining Thunderstrucks.

CL322 was later sold by Greg Schutte to Darryl Hadfield. This is one of two bodies that had PDS installed at the factory. This marker has since been built to operational status, and sold to Dylan Edmiston.

CL308 owned by "SomeGuY", as of 1/9/2006 is for sale on ICDO's B/S/T. This originally belonged to Chuck of Team Thunderstruck, who then gave it to Greg Schutte of ICD. Greg sold it to "SomeGuy".

CL319 is owned by Darryl Hadfield. This marker was purchased from Eric Bender of Illinois in December of 2005, who purchased it from a member of Team Thunderstruck.

CL330 is owned by Darryl Hadfield, but was sold to “RewTheJew” (Trenton Miller) on ICDO in early April of 2007.

CL316 (Shown in Picture, taken July 15th, 2006) is owned by Darryl Hadfield. This marker was originally owned by Team Thunderstruck, then gifted to Steve at ICD (Office Manager). Steve sold it to Greg Schutte, the then Head Tech at ICD. Greg sold it to Paul McCullough, an ICDO user. Paul sold it to Brent Lange, an ICDO member from Illinois, who then sold it to Darryl Hadfield. As shown in the picture, this Thunderstruck also has a one-of-a-kind trigger made by JKW of Techna-Trigger. This is the only Technatrigger made for a 2k3 bushmaster frame.

Vaporworks Bushmaster

Only 11 of these were ever made. The eye covers were custom-made by Vaporworks. Bodies and trays for the VW bushmasters were designed and made by Greg Schutte at Alpine Precision manufacturing in Nampa.

Please note as well that only a single switch is on this marker, and it’s in the trigger frame and not the tray, as with typical bushmasters. The trigger frames were also magnetic instead of spring.

Of the ten, one is owned by Darryl Hadfield (albeit with a T2 trayless kit from Blue Fork Designs, instead of the VW tray and trigger frame), another is owned by “SpitleBug” from ICDO, yet another is owned by “Northup” of ICDO. GregICD has the 11th one made.
