College Activities a. Highlights: “ Being a centre of Academic Excellence which Empowers Young Women to provide Intellectual Leadership and Transform the world through Courage of Conviction , Optimism and Hope” With this mission the student council for the year 2017-18 was nominated in the month of June and on the inaugural day, in the presence of Mrs. Indira Tirumala Raju- registrar, P.F. office Commissioner who was the chief guest for the day and other dignitaries, staff and students , our principal Dr. Sr. Shyji handed over the badges to the office bearers and congratulated them stressing the role of the student council. She also addressed the students and motivated them to endeavour to make the college campus lively. The annual activities of the student council recognizes the varied talents of our students. The student council activities started with a spell bee competition and many more events followed like an essay writing competition, dance, singing etc. Teachers play a major role in making their students responsible citizens of tomorrow and good human beings. Thus to show our acknowledgement and recognition of their hard work towards our development, the student council on behalf of all the development, the student council on behalf of all the students presented small tokens of love and respect to the teachers on teacher’s day. Specific days like world literacy day, national education day, population day, tourism day , environment day have been celebrated by organising curricular and extracurricular events. This year also witnessed the remarkable performance and participation of our students in various inter collegiate competitions. Student council organized an inter college fest “ Excelsior- 2k17”in college premises and identified the talents of students inside and outside the campus. ECO Buzz, the Economics department of the college conducted an Economics Quiz Contest named ‘THE YOUNG ECONOMIST’where various colleges were invited for participation. We were inundated by the response and participation of the students. The academic year 2017-18 witnessed appreciable efforts by various departments in organizing various activities. Various associations and clubs organised activities to bring out the hidden talents of students from intermediate to post graduation level. Students enthusiastically participated and the atmosphere was lively throughout the year. Two staff members one from department of Botany and other from department of economics received state best teacher awards .Faculty forum organized seminars and workshops to equip the staff to face present day challenges along with academic programmes. Department of physical education organised a two day seminar in the month of December in college campus. The Hindi department celebrated the ‘National Hindi week’ with the essence and elegance of the Hindi language and culture The Home Science department organized ‘nutrition week’ and ‘handloom week’ Republic day, Independence day , Teachers day have been celebrated in the college campus.
