2020 NAfME ALL-NATIONAL HONOR ENSEMBLES Jazz Ensemble, Mixed Choir, Guitar Ensemble, Modern Band, Symphony Orchestra, Concert Band Selected to perform in the 2020 All-National Honor Ensembles are 542 of the most musically talented high school students in the United States. With assistance from their music teachers and directors, these exceptional students have prepared challenging music that they will perform under the leadership of prominent conductors in this annual event. Grateful acknowledgment is given to the parents, families, and friends of the selected students for their cooperation and support as they share in this joyful experience. Special acknowledgment is also given to the following individuals for their leadership, expertise, and assistance in organizing and presenting these concerts. SPRADLEY, PRESIDENT, NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR MUSIC EDUCATION Mackie V. Spradley is President of the National Association for Music Education and serves as the Director of Enrichment Education at the Texas Education Agency in Austin, TX. She is also an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Teacher Education and Administration, College of Education, at the University of North Texas (UNT), Denton, Texas. She earned a Bachelor of Music in Voice from UNT and a Master of Arts in Vocal Pedagogy from Texas Woman’s University, Denton. She received her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Anthropology from UNT. Spradley has published in academic journals and books, such as the National Forum of Multicultural Issues Journal, Texas Music Educators Conference Connections, and Educational Leadership and Music (in press). She is a national speaker on music education, culturally responsive pedagogy, and social justice. MACKIE V. SPRADLEY NAfME President, 2020–2022 As a presenter, Spradley has shared her expertise throughout the United States and abroad. She has presented at various state, national and international conferences including the Texas Music Educators Association, the Colorado Music Educators Association, the Society for Music Teachers Education, the National Association for Music Education (formerly MENC), the Texas Choral Directors Association, the National Association Multicultural Education Texas Conference, and the Gospel Music Workshop of America, Inc. She is the facilitator of the Teacher Retention ASAP of the Society for Music Teacher Education. Spradley is a published author with research interests in music teacher effectiveness, critical discourse, culturally responsive teaching, social justice in music education, and critical theory. She continues to focus her work and efforts on issues related to equity in music education programs and improving music teacher effectiveness. 2020 NAfME ALL-NATIONAL HONOR ENSEMBLES 5 SCOTT R. SHEEHAN, PRESIDENT-ELECT, NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR MUSIC EDUCATION A nationally recognized advocate and leader for the advancement of music education, Scott R. Sheehan is the Director of Bands and Music Department Chairperson at the Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, where he directs the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Jazz Band, and Marching Band and teaches AP Music Theory, Fundamentals of Guitar, and the elective course Rock, Rap, and Revolution! During his tenure at Hollidaysburg, the school district has been named one of the Best Communities for Music Education in the United States by the NAMM Foundation for the past nine years. In addition to his duties at Hollidaysburg, Sheehan serves as the President-Elect (2020–2022) of the National Association for Music Education and is the Program Chair for the NAfME All- National Honors Ensembles. He was the NAfME Eastern Division President for from 2015–2017, during which he served on the Executive and Finance Committees. As an active member of the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association, Sheehan served SCOTT R. SHEEHAN as State President, as well as the District 6 Vice President and NAfME President-Elect Program Chair, NAfME All-National the District 4 President and Curriculum and Instruction State Honor Ensembles Representative. He coordinates the PMEA Leadership Academy, serves on the PMEA Mentoring Program Steering Committee, and is coordinator of the PMEA Model Curriculum & Assessment Steering Committee. Sheehan is an Educational Clinician for Conn-Selmer and a consultant for strategic planning and association development. He served as the NAfME Mentor for Band, and he was recognized at the state level as a Pennsylvania Keystone Technology Integrator by the Department of Education. He also served on the Educator Effectiveness Stakeholders Steering Committee for the Department of Education and was a lead teacher for the implementation of the Student Learning Objectives initiative for PDE. He is a member of Phi Beta Mu, the International Bandmasters Fraternity, was named Teacher of the Year in 2013 by the Hollidaysburg Area School District, and received the Outstanding Music Educator Award from Penn State University’s College of Arts and Architecture in 2016. Sheehan was a finalist for the 2019 GRAMMY Music
