Resolution of the San Francisco Democratic Party Supporting City College of San Francisco
RESOLUTION OF THE SAN FRANCISCO DEMOCRATIC PARTY SUPPORTING CITY COLLEGE OF SAN FRANCISCO WHEREAS, City College of San Francisco (CCSF) is among the highest rated community colleges in the nation and serves the Bay Area with distinction by providing a valuable and much needed resource for San Franciscans at every stage of life and from every neighborhood – enrolling nearly 90,000 students in both for-credit and noncredit courses each year, making available the only affordable path to educational and economic opportunity for many students (a path that is especially critical for students of color, immigrant students, disabled students and economically disadvantaged students), providing the vocational training for businesses that are the economic backbone of the City (including restaurants, body shops, airline maintenance, and the building trades), and not least importantly training the first responders in our police and fire departments, schools and hospitals so that they may supply the services and protection the residents of the City expect and demand; and WHEREAS, the Accrediting Commission of Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) has done injury to CCSF and to San Francisco by: 1) in July 2012 placing City College, which it had never previously sanctioned, on “Show Cause” – its highest level of sanction, and providing less than a year for CCSF to fully address a range of financial, administrative and governance problems or be subject to de-accreditation and closure; 2) treating the significant progress the College had made in addressing -

BREED, MAYOR OFFICE OF SMALL BUSINESS REGINA DICK-ENDRIZZI, DIRECTOR For Immediate Release: Tuesday, September 11, 2018 Press Contact: Gloria Chan, (415) 554-6926, [email protected] *** PRESS RELEASE *** SEVEN BUSINESSES APPROVED BY SF SMALL BUSINESS COMMISSION FOR THE LEGACY BUSINESS REGISTRY San Francisco, CA —Seven businesses were unanimously approved by the San Francisco Small Business Commission for the Legacy Business Registry – Balboa Cafe, Chloe’s Café, FTC Skateboarding, Haight and Fillmore Whole Foods, Hayes Street Grill, Marina Supermarket and Pier 39 Ltd. Partnership. The Registry recognizes longstanding, community-serving businesses as valuable cultural assets to the city. In total, 142 small businesses are listed on the Legacy Business Registry. Balboa Cafe: 3199 Fillmore Street Nominated by Supervisor Catherine Stefani Balboa Cafe and Restaurant opened its doors in 1913 as a saloon. It has since transformed into a refined dining establishment commensurate to its Cow Hollow location, yet many original elements remain—the “Off Sale Liquors” signage and wood-paneled back bar. There is little information about its early ownership until the 1970s when Jack Hobday took over. In 1994, the business was purchased by former San Francisco Mayor and current California Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom’s PlumpJack Group, now run by his sister Hilary Newsom and cousin Jeremy Scherer. Balboa Cafe is known for its vibrant atmosphere and menu staples, like the Balboa Burger and Chicken Paillard. The restaurant has operated continuously for 105 years at 3199 Fillmore Street on the corner of Fillmore and Greenwich. “San Francisco is a boom and bust town that is constantly going through change,” said Jeremy Scherer, Co- President of PlumpJack Group. -

LIU Re: Audit Selection of Year 2012 Committees COMMISSIONER PAUL A. RENNE This memorandum explains the Ethics Commission’s audit selection guidelines and COMMISSIONER summarizes the levels of financial activity by the different types of committees that were active during 2012. At its April 1, 2013 meeting, the Commission will randomly JOHN ST. CROIX EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR select committees to be audited. Staff has determined that it will be able to audit seven recipient committees that were active in the November 6, 2012 election. The audit pool includes: • all candidates1 who ran for City elective office in the November 2012 election; • ballot measure committees active in the November 2012 election; and • general purpose recipient and primarily formed candidate committees that were active in 2012. Meaningful. Memorable. These three words describe the evening as SFAR members and their guests took over SF City Hall on Saturday, January 6 for the Installation Gala honoring Kevin Birmingham, SFAR's 2018 President. If you didn't attend, you may be "green" with envy, as the event had a lovely Irish theme and City Hall never looked so good. The night started with a Bag Piper greeting guests as they arrived, setting the stage for the Irish themed evening to follow. After a photo op on the red carpet, friends and colleagues enjoyed a hosted cocktail reception with an Irish Trio of fiddle, banjo and guitar playing Irish Folk music, as they enjoyed savory delights and an assortment of adult beverages. The evening continued with dinner under the Rotunda, and guests were delighted as an Irish dance troop entertained guests as they enjoyed their meals. Past C.A.R. President, Jim Hamilton, served as the emcee for the evening, and kept the program running smoothly and with lots of humor as we transitioned from entertainment into the more serious Installation ceremonies. We were honored to have State Senator, Scott Wiener address the crowd and present Proclamations to our out-going and in-coming presidents. Other dignitaries who joined for the cocktail reception or dinner were State Board of Equalization Chair Fiona Ma; Assembly member David Chiu, Representing District 17; Acting Mayor London Breed; SF Assessor-Recorder Carmen Chu; SF Supervisor Jeff Sheehy, Representing District 8.
