Gravitonas Is a Stockholm-Based Band in the Electro/Dance/Rock
Gravitonas is a Stockholm-based band in the electro/dance/rock genre, fronted by lead vocalist Andreas Öhrn and celebrated record producer Alexander Bard, who work closely together with co- producer and co-writer Henrik Wikström and guitar virtuoso Ben Smith. Gravitonas was formed in 2010 An initial single and video called “Kites” was released in April 2010 and instantly became a Top 5 Club Chart hit in Sweden as well as one of the most talked about tracks on international music blogs. A four-track EP called "The Hypnosis EP" was released in September 2010. Lead track and video "Religious" quickly became a massive airplay and a Top 10 club chart hit in Russia (with over 100,000 accumulated radio spins in early 2011). “Religious” then entered the Billboard Magazine Club Play Chart in the United States in March, 2011 as an import-only release and peaked a few weeks later at #28. It also went straight to #1 on the Swedish iTunes Album Dance genre list. A four-track EP called "The Coliseum EP" was released in November 2010 with the ballad “You Break Me Up” as lead single and video which became a major radio airplay hit in Sweden. The Global Jukebox: the International Music Industry
The Global Jukebox Popular music is with us constantly. It is part of our everyday environment in McLuhan’s ‘Global Village’ and is now amongst the most universal means of communication. The Global Jukebox is the first comprehensive study of the international music industry at a time of great change, as the entertainment industry acknowledges its ever growing global audience. It provides an international overview of the music business and its future prospects in the global marketplace. Abstract Syntheiströrelsen (The Syntheist Movement) kan förstås som en konsekvens av individualismens framfart, kommersialism, globalisering och framväxten av IT-samhället. Syntheiströrelsen strävar efter att återupprätta en kollektiv gemenskap de upplever gått förlorad genom att själva skapa ny religion relevant för samtiden och framtiden. Benämningen deriveras från grekiska – syntheos, den skapade guden. Med avstamp i Den mediterande dalahästen: Religion på nya arenor i samtidens Sverige (Frisk & Åkerbäck 2013) för uppsatsen ett resonemang kring hur Syntheiströrelsen kan förstås utifrån teorier om samtida religion och religiositet. We, creators from all artistic fields and from all over Europe, call on you, EU decision makers, to put a stop to the funneling of value away from the creators to a number of online platforms. You have rightly acknowledged that user uploaded content (UUC) platforms are now the main point of access to our works online, but unacceptably do not, or only barely remunerate us for their exploitation. The viability of cultural and creative industries, which create significant growth and jobs for the EU economy, is threatened by this transfer of value. We want an environment that fosters growth for new and legitimate businesses, including UUC platforms, while providing legal certainty for consumers, and ensuring that this is paired with appropriate remuneration for creators. UUC platforms have built their businesses on people’s desire to access and share our works, and should not put the burden of liability on consumers or creators. The current situation is a race to the bottom that drives down the respect for and value of creative works. We depend on copyright/authors’ right as this is our pay and the only leverage we have to negotiate fair remuneration for our works. The forthcoming legislation on copyright is your opportunity to stop these freeriding platforms. We therefore call on you to: • clarify that UUC platforms like YouTube are involved in reproducing and making our works available under copyright laws; • e n s u r e t h a t t h e safe harbour non-liability regime does not apply to them as it is meant for technical intermediaries only.
