1 ABSOLUTELY MODERN A NEW Film BY PHILIPPE MORA “Modern paintings are like women, you'll never enjoy them if you try to understand them.” Freddie Mercury PRESS KIT Inquiries: morafilms@ gmail.com https://www.facebook.com/pages/Absolutely- Modern/429822753746917 2 ABSOLUTELY MODERN is "Absolutely funny, fresh and thought- provoking. Philippe Mora at his best." Piotr Czerkawski, Film Critic Wroclaw “..there is a genuine heart and soul to the film that is something of a passion project for Mora.” Laurence Boyce Screen Daily “The creation here (of Lord Steinway) is definitely a masterpiece.” Anna Tatarska FRED Radio, The Festival Insider “Mora’s films break all conventions, combine different styles and are nearly always saturated with rebellious, surrealistic humor.” Adam Kruk Film Critic, New Horizons “Mora tells perhaps one of his most personal stories to date as he examines art and modernism. Mora, who casual fans would most likely know from such films as Communion and cult classic The Return of Captain Invincible, unsurprisingly does not tell the tale with any regard for the norms of convention..” Screen International “Philippe Mora…French Australian director legend.” Der Spiegel May 2013 3 SYNOPSIS OF THE FILM This story of Modernism, muses and the role of sexuality in art are told by famed art critic Lord Steinway. When a soccer player, confronts Steinway as his son, the story takes a modernist twist itself. This comedy hit at the 2013 New Horizons International Film Festival takes the form of a hybrid of fact and fiction about Lord Steinway, the “Method” art critic, making his television show THE EPIC OF CIVILIZATION.

THE HYDROGEOLOGICAL CONTEXT OF CEMETERY OPERATIONS AND PLANNING IN AUSTRALIA by Boyd B. Signature of Candidate i Abstract The Hydrogeological Context of Cemetery Operations and Planning In Australia by Boyd B. Dent The purpose of this research has been to evaluate the potential contamination impact of cemeteries on groundwater. A comprehensive study of the groundwaters in the unsaturated and saturated zones of nine Australian cemeteries has been made, with most sampling between October 1996 and August 1998. Periodic sampling from 83 wells or ponds yielded 305 complete samples which were tested for at least 38 inorganic and 5 bacterial analytes. Other, partially complete samples were used for metals and bacterial analyses. The soils of all sites were tested for a range of analytes that might reflect or affect the presence of human decomposition products. The within-cemetery sampling has allowed inorganic chemical characterisation of cemetery groundwaters to an amount of detail not previously attained.

It is a record of the colourful characters and individuals who have contributed so much to the development of our City. This entertaining booklet paints a picture of a community that is proud of its past and positive about its future; a community that welcomes and embraces people whose luck in life has run out and a community that includes many, very successful businesses and individuals. The Historic South West Corner booklet is a project initiated by the South West Community Network. The Network was instigated and is supported by Adelaide City Council. The Council encourages active engagement of local communities in City life and in making decisions about their neighbourhood. A method of accomplishing this is through the development of local projects such as the production of this booklet. The booklet presents a history of the South West Corner of the City that will inspire people to think of this area as an interesting place to live, work and visit. I hope that you will enjoy reading this exciting, factual and humorous account of how the South West community of the past created a great community spirit of the present.

Primarily a figurative painter, his works responded to the world around him and his own life experiences, and they often reflected critically on society. During his career he played an active role in art politics, particularly in the 1940s, writing influential articles about the direction of art in Australia. He also held prominent positions within the art community, including President of the Contemporary Art Society in the late 1940s and again in the 1960s. Tucker grew up during the Depression and began his career as a young artist in the late 1930s, in the years leading up to the outbreak of World War II. At this time, his world was defined by financial insecurity, social inequality and war, and these concerns became the catalyst for much of his painting.

Oct 13, Elaine rated it really liked it. Modern Love is about much more than just the Reeds and Sidney Nolan. This authorly bar-owner of Heartattack and Vine, near Readings in Carlton had the honour of having this, her first book, published by Affirm Press' new fiction list. Perhaps no one is better placed to write this illustrated tribute to the Reeds and company than Harding and Morgan. Added are some of the seminal works of art of the period. The contribution the Reeds made to Australian art, just as it was rediscovering its own uniqueness, was astronomical and fully examined here. Nov 20, Pauline Carrafa rated it it was amazing. Later a federal Member of Parliament, at the time he was on the Bench of the High Court of Australia — the youngest justice ever appointed. Ms Bitto's follow-up will be eagerly anticipated. I don't think I have read of so may suicides in one connected group of friends and family, it was very distressing but understandable - they were such passionate people throughout their lives so went out the same way. I consider it a great privilege to continue to serve as the Chair of the Centennial Park Board for another year. The tail end of this financial year has certainly brought challenges, but we were still able to celebrate many achievements throughout the year. This year Centennial Park recorded a deficit of $451K, significantly better than the budget, and after distributing a liability guarantee fee of $636K to our owner councils. A deficit was budgeted in anticipation of the introduction of new accounting standards that require a significant portion of the income received from Interment Rights to be deferred and brought to account over the entire period of the Interment Right. A commitment to sound financial discipline ensured that Centennial Park delivered a better result than budgeted, despite the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Centennial Park is an important place for our community and those with loved ones resting here. It is not just a place of mourning. It is a place that connects people through beautiful gardens, services, events and stories. The leadership team at Centennial Park continue their work to future-proof the Park to ensure it meets the needs of our families and the broader community.

  • Special Risks
OF z o ) tn I Before you began your travels you were told how essential it was to define your intended role. Were you going to be a tourist, or an explorer, or an infiltrator? Those are choices that confront anyone arriving at a new place. Each bears its special risks. Robert Silverberg (Trips) Special Risks by Tony Bugeja Special Risks For hundreds of years the Mediterranean Sea was a half-forgotten lake. There were Naval skirmishes on its waters every few decades. These encounters are recorded in history as battles and have grand sounding names. Some may have influenced the balance of power in Europe, but most were a waste of gunpowder. During these centuries sea trade was conducted by extended families with little interference and no documentation. Then everything changed. The Book of Beglnnings. We returned from Malta in 1947. London was cold and foggy, and everybody seemed weary. I went to a school that had been half demolished by a flying bomb four years previously and the building was still unrepaired. Returning soldiers searched for family homes and found vacant lots. People travelled to work on buses and trains that were so under-maintained that they could no longer keep to time- tables. Broken window panes were replaced with cardboard, and paint was allowed to peel. England's green and pleasant land was brown and dirty. Our home was a room that led out into a back alley; but in that street there was colour and action, and the rebirth of glamour. The lane fronted the stage entrance to a theatre.
