MARK YOUR CALENDARS SPOTLIGHT IN PURSUIT OF THE REAL TRUTH It was a hearty debate session amongst our RCMers, celebrating the essence of the 4-Way Test. The teams were Rtns. Krish Vijayan and Rani Muralidharan for their team Truth Warriors and Rtns. Sharon Krishna Rau and Dr. Venky Munikrishnan for their team Surgical Strikers. Beyond the debate, Rtns. Krish, Sharon and Rani share some of their personal philosophy on Truth, while Rtn. Sanjay shows us how he plays both sides... Is the Truth more important than being fair or beneficial to all? My own view point is very conflicted. While I teach my 10-year old that speaking the truth is non- KRISH VIJAYAN, negotiable, I also tell her to be kind and say nice A TRUTH things to others even if it’s not the stark, brutal WARRIOR! truth. How do I reconcile this and explain to a child that “white lies”, so to speak are acceptable? So, my “middle of the moral road” position is what I ask her to follow. While telling outright lies is still non-negotiable between us parents and her, making a kind if not entirely-true remark so as to not hurt The 4-Way Test, like the 10 Commandments are so the other person’s feelings, is also acceptable.
