ANNUAL REPORT The year 1974/75 proved to be a turning point in the Trust's history. The Trust entered the year in difficult financial circumstances and for several months had to impose a virtual moratorium on grant applications. At the conclusion of the year, however, the Trust emerged in a considerably strengthened position and with a clear conception of its priorities for the years ahead.
Grants have been made or offered during the financial year 1974/75 for work on the following properties: Newcastle Cottage, Flawborough High Farm Cottage, Mill Lane, Kirklington Dovecote, Hall Farm, Linby The Old Vicarage, Low Marnham Forest Stone, Lyndhurst Ruddington Framework Knitters' Shops (second grant) Hall Farm House, South Scarle (third grant) West Retford Trinity Hospital The Grove, Whatton 19 Park Street, Worksop 21 Park Street, Worksop Grants repaid to the Trust have been in respect of the following: Caunton Common Farmhouse Dovecote, Normanton-on-Soar In addition to the day to day work of the Trust in considering grant a applications and planning applications affecting buildings within Conservation , Areas, the Trust has continued to be engaged in a number of very substantial restoration projects, most notably, Windles Square, Calverton; Rempstone ~ Cottages; and OIlerton Mill.
We are very pleased to report that the Trust has received a special grant of £300·00 towards the landscaping of Ollerton Mill and of £1,250·00 towards the landscaping of Windles Square in recognition of the importance of these projects to European Architectural Heritage Year. It is also appropriate to record here that Windles Square has been granted a Heritage Year Award. The Trust regards this Award as a considerable achievement, bearing in mind particularly that only four projects in the whole of the County received such an Award. The restoration of the Windles Square cottages has un doubtedly demonstrated that conservation of older properties makes an important contribution to the enhancement of the environment and also makes sound economic sense.

J. FARRER, I.P.F.A ., F.R.V.A. I Honorary Treasurer AUDITOR'S REPORT: I have examined the accounts of the Trust for the year ended 31st March 1975. I have obtained all the infonnation and explanations which I consider necessary for my audit and in my opinion proper books of account have been kept. I have examined the Income and Expenditure Account and Balance Sheet, which are in agreement with the books of account. In my opinion the Balance Sheet gives a true and fair view of the affairs of the Trust at 31st March 1975 and the Income and EXl?enditure Account gives a true and fair view of the excess of Income over Expenditure for the accountmg period ended on that date,
