Back to 1888. Also included in this inaugural delegation were five Free Christian Baptist ministers who had just been disfellowshipped from their denomination because they had come to believe in the promise of Scripture and the power of the Holy Spirit to bring purity in love and life to the Bride of Christ. It was less than two weeks before, that one of those five ministers, George W. MacDonald, accepted the invitation on October 20th to become the pastor of Main Street Baptist, thus forming what would soon become the first congregation and pastoral appointment of this emerging Alliance.

G.W. MacDonald’s Bible has been in my office this week as a visible reminder of the influence of this great leader. It was borrowed with the kind permission of Vesta Mullen, our Curator of the Mullen Heritage Archives, who this year is attending her 91st consecutive Beulah Family Camp. 37

The organizational meeting that day began with the following motion by Rev. journey of exploration ahead. Riverside Director Report This year’s camp schedule: • Elementary Camp – July 9-14 Riverside 2017 was one of the most exciting camping seasons we have • Sr High Camp – July 15-21 experienced for many years. Attendance was up dramatically, campers came • Jr High Camp – July 22-28 to Jesus, many grew exponentially in their spiritual journeys and the sense of • Family Camp – Sunday, July 29-August 1 unity was amazing. Volunteerism has never been higher and we have some who have made Riverside their “mission field”. This year we are changing our adult camp routine, starting on Sunday afternoon at 3 pm American, with services continuing Monday through Our Elementary Camp had 64 campers under the leadership of Debbie Wednesday at 6:30 pm American time. Our guest evangelist is Rev Mel Rooney and Vaughn Martin. As always there was a great mix of fun, Norton. Sunday afternoon will also feature a mini concert by Kelly fellowship and teaching. Most significant was the amazing times of seeking O’Meara. God at the altar in a true movement of the Holy Spirit among these children. Debbie termed it one of the most unusual things she has ever witnessed in Respectfully submitted, many years of children’s ministry. We are thrilled that God continues to use Rev. Bud Fancy Riverside to transform young lives.

Senior High and Jr High were both in the high 50’s with the total for the 3 camps at 184. As the father of a 16 year old I value opportunities to place her in high level spiritual settings. These camps were full of the Holy Spirit’s moving in ways that change destinies. Each year we see kids called to ministry, make life altering changes, and return a few years later to serve in ministry in one of our local churches. Recent additions such as our low ropes course, team building challenges & nine-square volleyball have added much to our camping experience but the draw to Riverside still remains the profound way God reveals himself to our youth. There are also the deep relationships that our campers develop that remain from year to year. Each camping season brings a heightened anticipation as campers return to build new memories.

Finances have been much improved and we continue to make necessary repairs and additions. Last year we replaced all the windows in the hotel, redid the dining room area and nurses station and infirmary. This year we doubled the girls shower area, purchased a new commercial gas stove, and were gifted with a beautiful log cabin to provide housing for our camp speakers. This fall plans are to develop a large activities field and the swimming pool will be replaced. We celebrate the amazing facilities and effective ministry that are a part of Caton’s camping but are so grateful for the legacy of Riverside that has impacted so many. 44

“ONE CON” - May 11-12, 2018 This past May saw a BIG CHANGE occur with the merger of Rally In The Valley and the Canadian Baptists of Atlantic Canada (CBAC) Spring Forth rally into the ONE Conference! The following is taken from the May 14, 2018, It’s Monday Again:

[ ONE Conference recorded 2500+ registrations, including 600+ local church leaders. ONE was birthed at the initiative of Kings (Brent Ingersoll & Andy Broad) to merge “Rally in the Valley” with the Canadian Baptists of Atlantic Canada (CBAC) annual youth rally, “Spring Forth.” With additional volunteer staff and special guests in attendance for this first-ever interdenominational Atlantic student ministries conference, there were nearly 3000 in the Moncton Coliseum over this past weekend. More than 130 churches were represented including at least 5 denominations. Approximately 1000 students stood for a call to accept Christ on Friday night, including one German exchange student from Miramichi (as reported by Sharon Simoneau)! Our Father is worthy of it all! Mosaic MSC led in powerful worship and the lyrics to their song (aptly titled) “The ONE” summed up the weekend nicely, “Father, move us, Spirit, lead us, to a new place, to a new day…” 45

Executive Director of Camp Ministry ready for the summer. This summer we are experimenting with a variety of weekend activities We have much to be grateful for as we consider the blessing of having for the whole family. At a time when many camps movie nights, a boating and bus trip, weekend seminar, fishing derby, coffee are struggling to stay alive, both Caton’s Island and Beulah Camp are houses, and special musical guests, all aimed at providing opportunities for experiencing growth and vitality that make stewarding this district resource community and connection on the campground. an energizing responsibility. This year we were refused student grants through the Federal government, Caton’s Island, under the visionary leadership of Dean Stephenson, is due to the requirement to sign the attestation.
