1 From (Frontiers in Mission, 327-43) The Future of Evangelicals in Mission: Will We Regain the Kingdom Vision of Our Forefathers in the Faith? Ralph D. Winter, W1489C.14, 3/9/08 A flood of light on the future of the Evangelical movement and its mission vision can be deduced by looking closely at its roots. Evangelicals happen to have a rich heritage of faith and works, extensively forgotten, that can once again inspire and instruct us as we seek to bring a complete gospel to every tribe and tongue. Evangelicals? Who Are They? The word evangelical in the Catholic tradition refers to those people who take the four Evangelical gospels very seriously—specifically, members of Catholic orders. Later, in the Protestant tradition, the word evangelical came to refer to a political party where the evangelici, adhering to the authority of the Bible, were opposed to the pontifici who supported the authority of the Pope. However, at the time of the Reformation other things were going on besides tension between two parties. There were the Anabaptists and later on Pietists and still later a still different kind of “Evangelical,” namely Quakers, and eventually, the Methodists, who became a global force. As a broad generalization, all of these additional “third force” movements came to understand the word Evangelical to mean more than correct belief. The word began to refer to those individuals who had had a personal “evangelical experience,” by which was meant something real had happened in a person’s heart and life not just purely mental assent to a prescribed intellectual creed. -

Wetzel AUTHOR’S APOLOGY The following chronology is an accumulation of research done off and on for the past thirty years. It began with the simple idea of trying to put a date on the major events set forth in the Bible so that a person can get a general birds-eye view of those events in their relation one to another. Then another idea was incorporated of showing “secular” events that happened at the same time as the “Biblical” events, so the reader can associate these events. Sometimes events in the “Biblical” world had an impact on the “secular” world, and vice-versa. 3 By the time I finished Revelation, I was already entering the “AD” period and figured, “Why stop now?” So I continued to follow Christianity in its growth and development, in the same format. This is not intended by any means to be an exhaustive account: who can compile a 6,000 year history of humanity into 200+ pages? Nor will I guarantee the accuracy of the dates used. Even the best authorities disagree on some of the dates of those ancient happenings. But, whether this is used for study or research, or read through as a novel, it will give a discerning person an idea of what it is all about. -

REGNUM EDINBURGH CENTENARY SERIES Volume 24 Theology, Mission and Child: Global Perspectives REGNUM EDINBURGH CENTENARY SERIES The centenary of the World Missionary Conference of 1910, held in Edinburgh, was a suggestive moment for many people seeking direction for Christian mission in the 21st century. Several different constituencies within world Christianity held significant events around 2010. From 2005, an international group worked collaboratively to develop an intercontinental and multi- denominational project, known as Edinburgh 2010, based at New College, University of Edinburgh. This initiative brought together representatives of twenty different global Christian bodies, representing all major Christian denominations and confessions, and many different strands of mission and church life, to mark the centenary. -

HAYES In1967 the Anglican Church of Canada (ACC) committed itself to support Indigenous peoples whowere callingonthe Cana- dian governmenttorecognize theirright to self-determination, andin1995 it resolved to move to recognizeIndigenous self- determination within thechurch itself. Nevertheless,inthe ACC, as in the countryatlarge, Indigenousself-determination hasremained an elusivegoal. To saysoisnot to deny theprogress that theACC has made in developingIndigenous leadership, governance, ministry, and advocacy. PREFACE 1. These rules shall be called CNI-SBSS Employee’s Service Rules and shall be applicable to all the employees of the CNI- SBSS. 2. These rules shall supersede all or any previous rules or practices which have been in operation on matters covered by those rules. II. III. GENERAL 1. Every employee must attend Morning Worship Service at the Office held every day at the stipulated time during all working days. -

ABSTRACT Title of the study: "Contribution of Christian Missionaries Towards Development of Secondary Education in Assam Since Independence" Education is the core of all religions, because it prepares the heathen mind for the proper understanding and acceptance of the supremacy of his Creator. Thus, acquisition of Knowledge and learning is considered as an act of salvation in Christianity. The revelation in Bible clearly indicates that the Mission of Prophet of Christianity, Jesus Christ, is to teach his people about the tenets of Christianity and to show them the true light of God. As a true follower of Christ, it becomes the duty of every Christian to act as a Missionary of Christianity. The Missionaries took educational enterprise because they saw it as one of the most effective means of evangelization. In India, the European Missionaries were regarded as the pioneers of western education, who arrived in the country in the last phase of the fifteenth century A.D. The Portuguese Missionaries were the first, who initiated the modem system of education in India, when St. Xavier started a University near Bombay in 1575 A.D. Gradually, other Europeans such as the Dutch, the Danes, the French and the English started their educational efforts. -

INDIA Mother Teresa, the angel of Calcutta ©Simone Bergamaschi Calcutta, India, Nirmala Shishu Bhavan it’s the house built by Mother Teresa and the Missionaries of Charity to welcome orphan kids and the ones with physical or mental problems. In the area there are a lot of families counting on this centre to give their children a better present. On September 4th, 2016 Pope Francis will proclaim saint a tiny nun from Albania, born in 1910 and passed away 87 years later: Mother Teresa. Just saying her name recalls immediately her minute figure, wrapped up in a white and blue sari, always with a smile on her wrinkled face. Having her name associated with the city of Calcutta (from 2001 officially known as Kolkata) is more difficult for many: it’s the place where Mother Teresa lived and worked most of her life, serving the poorest among the poorest surrounded by extreme indigence and its related violence, decay and enormous suffering. It was that immense poverty to push Mother Teresa to move to Calcutta right after completing her novitiate and her nurse education in the North Bengal. She never left Calcutta since then. Here she started to look after and cure the sick persons she was finding on the roads, founding later the order of the Missionaries of Charity and a huge number of homeless centres, hospitals and clinics dedicated to people affected by leprosy. In many occasions Mother Teresa found herself involved in controversies, but her tireless missionary activity gained more and more credibility as time went by. She also started to be supported from personalities like Lady Diana Spencer, and in 1979 she received the Nobel Peace Prize. -

If somebody taught them, Maybe they would convert? Priest Konrad’s Song of Roland (c. 1170)1 Introduction Benjamin Kedar opens his book, Crusade and mission. European approaches toward the Muslims, with the intriguing observation that Christian missions to Muslims appear to be a relatively recent phenome- non.2 While the Church of the East through mission and migration estab- lished churches as far east as China and Tibet, and while the Byzantine Church sent missionaries to Eastern Europe and the southern borders of the Arabian peninsula, and the Latin Church directed an ever-expanding Christianisation of northern Europe, sources suggest that during the first five centuries of Islam’s existence few, if any, systematic missions were conducted to Muslims. Christians responded to the rise of Islam in a variety of ways, such as with apocalyptic, apologetic and polemical works, public debates, internal reforms and military expeditions. But if texts are a window into the reality on the ground, systematic mission- ary initiatives towards Muslims were first organised only during the early decades of the 13th century, when the Latin Church encountered 1 B.Z.
