SAP NetWeaver Rapid Installer Guide August 2007

1 Introduction SAP NetWeaver Rapid Installer is an installation and configuration wizard that significantly reduces implementation effort and time for SAP NetWeaver. It implements an SAP NetWeaver system (SAP system) with usage types Application Server Java (AS Java), Enterprise Portal Core (EPC), and Enterprise Portal (EP) together with mandatory (and optional) SAP business packages. SAP NetWeaver Rapid Installer is available for Microsoft Windows 2003, Solaris, or operating systems using Microsoft SQL (MS SQL), MySQL MaxDB, Version 9 of IBM DB2 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows or Oracle database servers. SAP NetWeaver Rapid Installer (SRM 2007 focus) supports a clearly defined set of customer scenarios for SAP SRM. The Rapid Installer wizard installs an EP system along with SAP SRM business packages. Additionally, the installer offers additional components for installation/ deployment and configuration. The Rapid Installer does not configure transactions in the SRM Backend. SAP NetWeaver Rapid Installer supports a one-node installation on the same server. Optionally, you can scale up this one-node installation to a cluster environment by adding dialog instances using the standard SAP installation tool. Once the installation with SAP NetWeaver Rapid Installer is completed, customers can begin using the EP system to access enterprise business packages required for on-going business and to update/ change configurations, the data repository, and application software. Hardware and software upgrades can be performed as required.

SAP NetWeaver Rapid Installer Software Components SAP NetWeaver Rapid Installer installs the following building blocks of SAP NetWeaver 7.0 Support Package Stack 11: x A system with usage types AS Java (Application Server Java), EPC (Enterprise Portal Core) and EP (Enterprise Portal) x The standalone engine Search and Classification (TREX) (update with new components – optional) x Part of usage type AS Java is the system landscape directory (SLD) of SAP NetWeaver. If you want to use a new SLD, SAP NetWeaver Rapid Installer will configure it as part of the implementation. It also deploys/ configures the following software components by request: x SRM Business Package (BP SRM) x SRM Category Management Business Package (BP CATMAN) x Live Auction Cockpit (LAC)

These components only run on SRM 2007 SP02 The Rapid Installer is in Beta phase (and coincides with the current status of SRM 2007 SP02)

SAP NetWeaver Rapid Installer Guide August 2007

Checking User’s Home Directory The Rapid Installer installation procedure creates an operating system user for the J2EE Engine. The name of this user is adm (for example: j2eadm), and the user's home directory is created at the default location of the current Solaris system. This default location can be queried with useradd –D (check for the value of basedir in the output). The user's home directory will be created under /adm. If a different behavior is required for a particular system (for example because the default basedir is reserved for use by the Solaris automounter), you can change the default value as root user before starting the installation process with useradd -D -b MS SQL Server When installing the MS SQL Server database for an SAP system, we recommend that you select Binary order for use with the 850 Multilingual Character Set (code page cp850) for Collation Settings. This means that all new databases and table columns will be created with this collation setting (see also SAP Note 600027).

SAP NetWeaver Rapid Installer Guide August 2007

2 Installation and Configuration Once you have ensured that all prerequisite components have been properly installed, you are ready to start the SAP NetWeaver Rapid Installer wizard.

We recommend that you read the Master Guide – SAP NetWeaver 7.0 that describes how to set up the system landscape for SAP NetWeaver 7.0. For the most recent version of this guide, see SAP Service Marketplace at service..com/installnw70ĺ Planning. When the installation has been completed, you have to start SAPinst again to run the configuration wizard. Afterwards you must perform some configuration procedures manually.

Oracle only: Only Oracle users with root permissions to the file directory can perform this installation.

2.1 Running the Installation Wizard

Use To run SAP NetWeaver Rapid Installer for SAP NetWeaver 7.0 SPS 11, you receive two DVDs. Copy the content of the second DVD (Java Load with app. 4 GB) first before starting the installation procedure. Ensure that access to the content of both DVDs is possible during the installation process at the same time (for example, by means of mounting the DVD content). During the installation process, some disk space is temporary needed for the log files in the standard installation folder (which is ..\Program Files\sapinst_instdir\SRM60\RI\INST\ for Windows and /tmp/sapinst_instdir/SRM60/RI/INST/ for UNIX). When you copy the installation DVD in addition, start sapinst from a command line with full path out of this directory and all log files are written to this directory. See also SAP Note 809108.

For security reasons we recommend that you first backup all relevant files of the SAPinst installation directory (for example c:\Program Files\sapinst_instdir) to a safe place. Alternatively you can assign the folder permission to a different user.

Ensure that you copy the complete DVD content (including all subfolders).

Procedure 1. Insert the SAP NetWeaver Rapid Installer DVDs into the proper drives of your machine or copy the content of the DVDs to local working directories. 2. Change to folder IM_. 3. Navigate to file sapinst.exe or sapinst and execute it.

Result The SAP NetWeaver Rapid Installer wizard is launched.
