"Everybody wants Tech-Nick": Saturn again goes live with its cult advertising figurehead Tech-Nick Ingolstadt, 16.10.2014: The "Bei Technikfragen – Tech-Nick fragen" advertising campaign launched by the consumer electronics retailer Saturn approximately one year ago, together with its revised brand image, can be considered a resounding success. Now more than ever, the brand is synonymous in customers' minds with enthusiasm for technology and technological expertise – both at its conventional stores and online. With its enhanced profile, Saturn is now sounding the bell for a second round with its holiday season advertising campaign under the motto "Everybody wants Tech-Nick". This campaign will be implemented as humorous TV spots as well as online, in print media, on the radio, in social media and at the PoS starting Saturday, 18 October 2014. He doesn't speak, but he nods his head or tweets, and has thus been inspiring customers with his enthusiasm for technological innovations for a year now: Tech-Nick, the likable store employee who always has the right answer – without saying a word. Using only gestures and facial expressions, Tech-Nick, played by the actor Antoine Monot, Jr., who can currently be seen side-by-side with Elyas M’Barek in the movie "Who am I", has become a cult figure since his debut in the autumn of 2013. In its new campaign under the motto "Everybody wants Tech-Nick", Saturn plays with the popularity of its new advertising figurehead on the one hand and the customers’ enthusiasm for technology on the other. In the first of a series of entertaining TV spots, Saturn focuses on the linking of the various shopping channels – online, via mobile devices and fixed-location retailing. The TV spot shows in a humorous way that Saturn offers every customer the solution they need – as different Page 1 of 3 as those customers might be and irrespective of whether they want to shop online at www.saturn.de, via their smartphone or at a local Saturn store. "Over the course of the past year – thanks to the credible, informative and well-received Tech-Nick campaign, the new brand image with its fresh design in both our advertising and at the PoS, as well as genuine communication via social media – we have significantly raised Saturn's profile as an innovative, trustworthy and uncomplicated brand," says Carsten Strese, Managing Director of Media-Saturn Deutschland GmbH and responsible for sales and marketing for the Saturn brand. "The ‘Everybody wants Tech-Nick’ campaign continues along this line and focuses to an even greater extent on the core elements of the brand – enthusiasm for technology, technological expertise and the linking of online retailing with our conventional Saturn stores." The campaign was again developed by Saturn's lead agency Serviceplan Campaign Hamburg. The TV spots were implemented by director Claas Ortmann and the production company Mr. Bob Berlin; Sehsucht is responsible for postproduction; Hastings Hamburg for sound and radio. Mediaplus in Munich is responsible for media planning for TV. The campaign song "Abgenickt von Tech-Nick" was once again written by the rapper MC Fitti. The first TV spot can be seen on all high-coverage TV channels in Germany starting Saturday, 18.10.2014. The campaign is also being implemented in print media, on the radio, online, in social media and at the PoS. We are happy to provide you with spot and campaign motifs upon request.
