ARPHA Conference Abstracts 2: e46557. https://doi.org/10.3897/aca.2.e46557 Abstract The genus Albinaria Vest, 1864 (Gastropoda, Pulmonata, Clausiliidae) live on limestone rocks and show a remarkable diversity in the eastern Mediterranean region. This is mainly caused by the tendency of these populations to split up into local forms with highly restricted areas of distribution. This phenomenon is also furthered by geological and environmental factors and, often, by geographic isolation. In this work, we present further results on our studies on the genus Albinaria. An updated check-list of the populations coming from Albania, Greece, Turkey and Lebanon (except the islands) is provided and most of these populations are illustrated. Gittenberger & Uit de Weerd (2006: 61) referred to Carinigera (C.) buresi (A.J. Wagner, from 1927). However, according to Hesse (1933: 224), A.J. Wagner's paper dates 1928. As 1928. Hesse's is a consequence, 1927has to be replaced by statement supported by Polinski who indicated that this final (1929: 19), paper, i.e. Wagner's publication, was published only a few weeks before his death on June 12th, 1928. Animal Biodiversity and Conservation, 28.2: 181–188. Abstract Land snail diversity in a threatened limestone district near Istanbul,Turkey.— The limestone meadows located to the north–northwest of Istanbul, Turkey, are in danger of being overrun by the rapidly expanding city. Past surveys showed that these habitats harbor rare plant species, including endemics to Turkey. To further evaluate the conservation value of these habitats, especially in terms of the often neglected invertebrates, one limestone area to the north of Küçükçekmece Lake and surrounding Sazlidere Dam was surveyed for land snails. Our findings strengthen the case for the protection of these unique habitats. Twenty–four species of land snails were identified in the survey area. Of these, 21 are native to Turkey, including three whose type location is Istanbul. In addition, two species that are at or near the limits of their ranges are considered to represent peripheral populations that may be especially worth conserving. Although the area surrounding Sazlidere Dam is under protection, the other limestone habitats are severely threatened by ongoing development.
