BCS 2K11 Championship Title

The BCS national title game also called the Tostito’s Bowl took place on Monday, January 10 in Glendale, Arizona. Home of University of Phoenix Cardinals. Auburn and Oregon went head to head. Auburn Tigers number one and our own at number two. I guess it was meant to stay that way.

The Auburn Tigers haven’t been in the National Championship game since 1957. Their coach coached at Auburn from 02 to 04 then coached at Texas and Iowa State before going back to Auburn in 2009 to present. Auburn has won eleven conference titles seven of which were in the SEC. Auburn finished the regular season with a 13-0 record. In 1892 Auburn played as an independent in their first season as a team since then they have had 6 undefeated seasons dating back to 1913. Auburn’s first bowl game appearance was in 1936 they played in the Bacardi Bowl in Havana, Cuba. Auburn is all around an outstanding football team. “Auburn has the 13th most wins in D-1A college football. The Oregon ducks haven’t ever been in a National Championship game. the Oregon coach has really helped out this football team from 2007 to 2008 he was Oregon’s offensive coordinator. He took over the team for Mike Bellotti in the 2009 season and won the PAC10 conference and was in the Rose bowl with Ohio State. Oregon has won 8 conference titles. The ducks finished the regular season at 12-0. Oregon’s first football game ever took place on March 24, 1894 where they defeated Albany College. An amazing thing to know about Oregon’s football team is that there biggest win was against Puget Sound University the score 115-0 Oregon. Oregon’s first bowl game was in 1917 the Rose Bowl they defeated University of Pennsylvania. The Oregon ducks lost their star QB before the 2010 season. “Despite the loss of Masoli, the Ducks dominated their opponents in the 2010 season. Star player on the Tigers is of course winner Auburn Quarter Back . Newton has won three National Titles, one as a backup QB for the Florida Gators. And after that he played for Blinn Junior College and won the NJCAA title. This 2010 season he threw for 2,854 yards and 30 touchdowns. The defensive player to watch out for is this season he finished with 84 tackles and 12 sacks including one in the BCS National Title game and had a forced in that game also. The notable offensive player on the ducks is LaMichael James. James is the ducks current star running back. LaMichael had 18 100+ yard games a record at the . In the 2010 season he has had 1,731 yards and 21 TD’s. A notable defensive player on Oregon would be Casey Mathews this season he has had four interceptions, two forced , seventy-nine tackles, and four sacks.

Now for the game. About five minutes into the game Auburn picked off one of Oregon’s passes intended for Barner. Then shortly after Oregon’s Cliff Harris intercepted one of Heisman Trophy winner Cam Newton’s pass. After that got sacked by the Tigers #90 Nick Fairley the first quarter ends with no score 0-0. First play of the second quarter Oregon on 3rd and 2 on the 3 yard line Thomas takes another hit from Fairley and Oregon settles with a field goal bring the score to 0-3 Oregon. With twelve minutes left in the half Newton completes to #18 for a touchdown and they kick the extra point putting the score at 7-3 Auburn. Oregon’s next possession they are pushed back to their own 7 yard line. Darron Thomas then throws a beautiful pass to #13 Jeff Maehl bringing the ball to the Tigers 12. Then Darron to LaMichael completed for Oregon’s first Touchdown. Then one of the things the ducks are known for they faked the PAT and had their Kicker Rob Beard run it in for a two point conversion score now 7-11 Oregon. Seven minutes left in the half Auburn pushes for two first downs. At Oregon’s 1 yard line the ducks hold them for one more down, 4th and goal Heisman winner Newton incomplete intended for #32 Eric Smith. Then Oregon gets a safety with three minutes left, putting the score at 9-11 Auburn in the lead. Last play of the half #80 Emory Blake receives and runs it in for a touchdown 16-11 at the half. Too start off the second half Newton completes to #43 putting Auburn at the 15, Newton then throws it away and they kick a field goal 19-11 Auburn still leads. Oregon’s ball, Fairley forces a fumble but the Ducks recover it. Darron completes to Lavasier Tuinei, Oregon 1st and goal. Oregon scores with two minutes left in the game. They get the two point conversion tying the game 19-19. On Auburn’s next possession they had a game changer. #5 on the tigers rolled over the ducks #11 Strong Safety Eddie Pleasant and ran the ball down to Oregon’s 21 yard line. Auburn called a time out with the kicker on the field. #18 Wes Byrum kicks the field goal and wins the National Championship for Auburn and the SEC with two seconds left in the game.
