Citibank launches new branch strategy

Branches feature technology developed off-shore

Sydney, March 21 2011: has opened new branches in Camberwell, Victoria and Joondalup, Western in a revitalized growth strategy focused on affluent Australians with global financial needs.

The suburbs of Joondalup and Camberwell were chosen based on demographic research results that fitted with Citibank’s retail strategy to be present in locations that were easily accessible and relevant to its market.

Citibank Australia CEO Roy Gori said the two branch openings were merely the tip of the iceberg in a new plan that will increase Citibank’s customer touch-points in the next eighteen months.

“The new branches follow the roll-out of 150 new ATMs around Australia and a significant investment in building the Citibank brand,” Mr Gori said.

“We’re building a network of branches in central business districts and suburban locations with a high proportion target consumers – those who are globally-minded, affluent and aspiring affluent target – who value the local and global banking services we provide. Ultimately, the key component of our strategy is to position ourselves in areas where our customers live and work.”

The two new branches feature some of the leading-edge technology launched by Citibank in Tokyo and Hong Kong, which provide customers with the ability to transact with Citibank in a way that is faster and simpler than ever before

These innovations include an interactive media wall featuring information and financial data, touch-screen devices that provide customers with the ability to find personal financial solutions, and the Citi Work Bench - a touch panel desk allowing customers to review information alongside branch staff.

“As a global bank, we’re able to leverage best-practice technology introduced by Citibank around the world, all of which make the service simple, fast and secure,” Mr Gori said.

1/2 The new branches include the full suite of banking and teller servicing with cash, mortgages, deposits and credit cards.
