Scope And Content: Jean Faut (1925-) was a pitcher for the All American Girls Professional Baseball League, and historians and baseball followers argue that she was the best over-hand pitcher in the league. The Jean Faut collection consists of newspaper clippings from her time with the AAGPBL and the movie A League of Their Own, which commemorated the league as well. Also included in this collection are numerous artifacts from her time in the league, photographs from the AAGPBL reunions, and correspondence from former players in the league, as well as official correspondence from the reunion committees throughout the years. The papers also consist of Ms. Faut’s contracts for the years she was in the league, as well as fan mail that she received over the years. Addition: Jean Faut Papers, Acc 1369 Manuscript Collection, Winthrop University Archives II BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION JEAN FAUT Jean Faut was born November 17, 1925, in East Greenville, Pennsylvania. She was a member of the All American Girls Professional Baseball League from 1946 until the league disbanded in 1953. She played for the South Bend Blue Sox. Many historians and baseball professionals claim that she was the best over-handed pitcher in the league. Today Ms. Faut resides in the Westminster Towers in Rock Hill, South Carolina. She is 93 years old. For full contents, please see Appendix IV. 9 76 BOOK DRAFT 1973 Unpublished book entitled Factors Contributing to the Development of the All American Girls’ Baseball League by Merrie Fiddler. Ms. Fiddler was an instructor and intramural assistant for the University of Minnesota, School of Physical Education.
