    MANITOBA GOVERNMENT NFORMATIONSERVICESBRANCH ROOM 29, LEGISLATIVE BUILDING WINNIPEG, MANITOBA R3C0V8 PHONE 946-7175 March 12, 1976. $568,000 IN LOTTERY FUNDS TO BE ALLOCATED - - - Major Sports Programs Include Manitoba Games Manitoba will contribute about $568,000 this year from lottery revenues to three major sports programs -- including the 1976 Manitoba Games -- and coaching- certification program, Health and Social Development Minister Laurent L. Desjardins has announced. Mr. Desjardins, minister responsible for fitness and amateur sport, said the programs will improve athletic competition levels in Manitoba, as well as raising the standards of coaching and officiating in more than a dozen sports. He said the support for these programs is part of a much larger effort by Manitoba to support participation in and awareness of sports in Manitoba during 1976, when Canada is playing host to the summer Olympic Games. The four programs and the provincial participation are: 1.The 1976 Manitoba Games -- about $400,000. Some $178,500 will be spent to help defray costs of district finals in each of the 13 regions (including six in Winnipeg) into which the province has been divided for Games competition purposes. These funds will also help cover the cost of the six regional finals to be held in Winnipeg and seven in rural Manitoba: Flin Flon (Norman region), Dauphin (Parkland), Souris (destman), Pinawa (Eastman), Portage la Prairie (Central Plains), Gimli (Interlake) and Morden (Pembina Valley). It is planned to hold district finals by July 10 and regional finals by July 31. About $125,000 will be spent on operations of the provincial final, to take place in Neepawa August 22 to 28.

    Manitoba Government lig4f NEWS RELEASE Manitoba Information Services, Room 29, Legislative Building, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 0V8 Telephone: (204) 945-3746 Fax: (204) 945-3988 March 12, 1990 WINNIPEG REGION TOPS 1990 MANITOBA WINTER GAMES Winnipeg region captured aggregate honors and the Manitoba Games Shield as the 1990 Manitoba Winter Games Provincial Finals wound up Sunday, March 11, in Carman and the Rural Municipality of Dufferin. Winnipeg totalled 70.5 points in the 12-sport, five-day competition for seven regions. Winnipeg won 72 medals overall - 27 gold, 36 silver and 19 bronze. Two of Winnipeg's gold medals came in alpine skiing and men's hockey. Runner up in the aggregate race was defending champion Eastman with 63 points. Interlake and Parkland tied at 60, followed by Central with 58.5, Norman with 52.5 and Westman with 51.5. The Larry Desjardins Trophy, awarded to the region showing the greatest improvement in its final standings, was won by the Interlake region. Interlake won gold medals in broomball and basketball. The Regional Games Participation Award, to the region with the highest participation per capita, was awarded to the Parkland region.     ANNUAL REPORT 2017-2018 Fiscal Year TESTIMONIAL – ELEVATE PROGRAM PARTICIPANT SHORTY’S UPCYCLING STUDIO Life has not been easy for us. But when we came into contact with Community Futures North Central Development, they found a way to make life possible. When Don became ill in 2015, he had no choice but to end up on Disability. After a few family feuds, we all recognized that Don had this incredible talent to make awesome things out of potential waste products, especially when he was in his deepest point of depression. We recognized the potential for this ability to help him out of depression and debt! Being in a depressive state made him feel like this was not a feasible venture. But his family persuaded him to find a way to start the business, and he found Community Futures. He met with Business Development Officer Leann Brown who gave us a template to write out a business plan. Writing the business plan inspired us to see how this business concept could work in reality. After several meetings, a new program became available called Elevate for entrepreneurs with disabilities. This program gave us the funds to establish Shorty’s Upcycling Studio which was amazing. Community Futures represents its name in its entirety. “Community”, we feel a part of the community, we come in hash out ideas with each other, the door is constantly open to us. We have never been turned down to have a listening ear with any representative of Community Futures. They have even helped us in the darkest of times when we were on the edge of losing our house and our business entirely.
