Breezy conditions will develop each afternoon along the central coast which will transition into nighttime sundowner winds across Santa Barbara County and north winds along the I- 5 Corridor. Cooler, onshore flow is expected to return for the balance of next week. • Maximum temperatures today will reach the upper 70s to lower 80s in the mountains to the lower 90s in the valleys, warming another 3-5 degree Friday. Saturday will be the hottest day with highs of 100-103 in the valleys. Slow cooling trend Sunday and Monday before temperatures fall to below normal next Wednesday. • Northwest winds of 15-25 mph each afternoon along the central coast through Sunday. Local north winds of 10-20 mph tonight in Santa Barbara County and the I-5 Corridor. North winds increasing to 15-25 with gusts to 40 mph in these areas Friday night/Saturday morning. • Minimum humidity will be mainly between 15%-25% above and inland from the marine layer today. Look for RH minimums to drop into the 8- 12% over most areas below 7,000 feet over the weekend. The lowest readings may occur along the central coast interior over the weekend. Only fair recovery across mid slope elevations with thermal belts forming due to clear skies overnight. • Possibly turning windy in the Sierra high country into the western Owens Valley during the latter half of next week. -- 4 -- Red Flag Warnings/Watches & Air Quality Red Flag Warnings & Watches North America Smoke Plumes September 6, 2018 = Fire Weather Warning = Fire Weather Watch Source: https://www.ospo.noaa.gov/Products/land/hms.html Source: https://www.weather.gov/fire/ Current Watches, Warnings or Advisories for California Link https://alerts.weather.gov/cap/ca.php?x=1 Current Air Quality Air Quality Forecast (as of 9/7 12:00am) for Friday, September 7 Source: https://www.airnow.gov/index.cfm?action=airnow.local_state&stateid=5&mapcenter=0&tabs=0 Legend: AQI = Air Quality Index; PM = Particulate Matter; O3 = Ozone Air Quality Index Basics Overview: https://airnow.gov/index.cfm?action=aqibasics.aqi -- 5 -- Significant Fire Potential Maps Friday Saturday Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Source: http://psgeodata.fs.fed.us/staticmap.html -- 6 -- Natchez Fire - Del Norte & Siskiyou Counties Sources reference number (#) corresponds to number in the information sources at the end of the section.
