Other faces will be familiar, includ- ing the return of Mr. John Wolf as a ⅞ ELA teacher and Ms. Blanco-Busam who’ll help Ms. Grant as an acting assistant prin- cipal. HCS News sat down with Ms. Grant to get the scoop on why so many 7th graders and not other grades? Q. Why are you adding a new set of kids for 7th grade? When we were looking at other spaces, we only had room for 40 children at each grade level. Since this building is bigger, we added the extra students in order to optimize the building space. Therefore, having the accessibility of wide open fields, aquatic terrains, gym and other amenities conducive for learning and inspiration. Q. Are there any other grades that are getting a new set of kids? Unfortunately, not at the middle/high school level because Highlander tends to accumulate children at a slower pace in upper school. We will keep 40 children in other grades next year and then each year we will add another 20 to 7th grade that way we only have 20 new students at once. We are also adding 12 new Pre-K openings (at the Providence campus). Q. How will this addition benefit Highlander? It will allow us as a community to have more programs in State Police Officer Marc Remington invites 9th grader Angel Vidal to share his social media knowledge.

  • Glenfinnan's Historical Significance Highlighted on the 275Th
NATIONAL TRUST FOR SCOTLAND MEDIA RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 19 AUG 2020 Glenfinnan’s historical significance highlighted on the 275th anniversary of the raising of the Jacobite standard The final Jacobite uprising of 1745 and how it helped shape the world we live in today is examined in a new podcast, released today by the National Trust for Scotland. Today (19 August) marks the 275th anniversary of the raising of the Royal Standard at Glenfinnan by Bonnie Prince Charlie and the start of what would be the Stuart’s final attempt to regain the British throne. The prince’s rallying cry was answered by some 1,500 Jacobites, who marched as far south as Derby before turning back to Scotland and decisive defeat at Culloden. Today the monument at Glenfinnan, which marks the place where the standard was raised, stands as one of Scotland’s most popular attractions. And in the latest episode of the National Trust for Scotland’s ‘For the Love of Scotland’ podcast, Professor Murray Pittock, Scottish historian and Trustee and history advisor to the Trust, looks at how this moment continues to resonate in our lives today. As Professor Pittock explains in the latest episode of the podcast, hosted by Jackie Bird, what happened at Glenfinnan 275 years ago shaped not only shaped Scottish history, but the world as we know it today. “Without the Jacobite rising of 1745, Great Britain would not have developed as it did and the British Empire would not have developed as it did. Without Glenfinnan and the standard being successfully raised and the coming in of the Camerons (Clan Cameron), the rising would have never taken place.
