HOKKAIDO UNIVERSITY 2021-2022 HUSTEPSHORT-TERM EXCHANGE PROGRAM Study about Japan in English Welcome to The Hokkaido University Short-Term Exchange Program (HUSTEP) is a ‘junior year abroad’ type program designed to provid undergraduate HUSTEP students from affiliated universities with the opportunity to study at Hokkaido University. Participants in this program take a wide variety of broadens your horizons! classes offered in English in the fields of Culture and Society, Environment, Science and Technology. Students also have the chance to study the Japanese language. In addition, some participants can pursue independent study research under the guidance of a faculty member. There will also be an opportunity to take part in numerous traditional and contemporary Japanese cultural activities. Participating in HUSTEP will help to prepare you for the future with knowledge and experiences that will last a lifetime. In addition, you will have a wonderful opportunity to meet and make friends with many Japanese people as well as international students from all around the world who Ms. Maki Nonaka come to study at Hokkaido University. HOKKAIDO UNIVERSITY 02 SHORT-TERM EXCHANGE PROGRAM HOKKAIDO UNIVERSITY SHORT-TERM EXCHANGE PROGRAM 03 HUSTEP Course Details HUSTEP offers students the choice of participating in the One Year or Half Year Course. The One Year Course allows students to study for two semesters and take classes in English as well as Japanese language classes. In addition, students have the option to do an independent study under the guidance of a faculty supervisor. As part of the independent study, students may have a chance to study in a lab or attend seminars with Japanese students in various faculties. The Half Year Course allows students to study for one semester and take classes in English and Japanese language classes. Students should choose carefully since switching courses is not permitted. Course details are listed below. Non-native English speakers must have a score of at least TOEFL iBT 79 or IELTS 6.5*** 6. be able to arrive in Sapporo by late September or first week of April Please check HUSTEP application guidelines for complete eligibility requirements. Application https://www.global.hokudai.ac.jp/admissions/exchange-student-admissions/ Procedure exchange-programs-in-english-hustep/ There is a screening process and not all students who apply will be accepted. * Students must take a minimum of 10 hours of classes (7 classes) per week to meet visa requirements. ** One Year Course students are required to obtain at least 10 credits in each semester, and at least 8 of these credits should be from core classes. *** In exceptional cases, a different internationally recognized English test result may be accepted.
