His managerial philosophy is simple: he wants to bring an exciting brand of baseball back to town and In the process bring fans back to the park At the plate last season, Fenlon .289 in 35 games. He topped the l-C with only one passed ball for the season. His year culminated in the playoffs against Niagara Falls when he cracked three game-winning homers, including a grand slam and another in the bottom of the ninth .

Page 6 alex mckay — 2nd Base Last season, the Majors’ second baseman added a new wrinkle to his overall play by bang ing out six home runs (second on the team) and leading the Majors in RBls (35). He continued to anchor the middle of the diamond, registering 106 assists, most for a Majors' infielder and good for second in the league. He also had a hand in 21 double plays. The 1986 season marks the 13th for the 28-year-old McKay. As a bit of local trivia he slugged nearly 1000 home runs over a three year period as a regular feature of the TV-London evening sign-off montage. DAVE BYERS — Short stop The big shortstop from Dorchester starts his 17th l nter-County season in 1986. Byers started his l-c career with London in 1969 before a three-year stint in the St. Louis Cardinals' minor league system, once again, Byers led the team in several key offensive categories, including hitting (.371), on-base percentage (.452), runs (24) and hits (49). Oddly enough, Dave says his weakness in the minor leagues was his hitting, the one aspect of his game that has made him such a valuable team leader for the Majors. Page 7 CHUCK WESTMAN — Centre Field in his third year with the Majors, Chuck con tinued to provide steady defence in the out field. He was second in the league in putouts by an outfielder (78). His best moment last year, however, came at the plate against Stratford in June. After a triple earlier in the game, he doubled in the bottom of the 11th inning to drive in the tying run, then scored on a single by the next batter with a spectacular head-first slide to give the Majors the win. Westman hit .296 last season and lead the inter-county League in stolen bases (16). in the offseason, he plays hockey and thinks about baseball.

STEVE BUSHBY— Left Field/catcher in his first year with the Majors, Steve ran into injury problems early in the year which limited his playing time. He did, however, provide valu able service once healed, filling in at nearly every position, Including pitching and catching, and cracking five home runs. One of those homers was a game-winner in a 2-1 win over Stratford in June.

He was often asked to come back on two days’ rest and one of his best performances came under those conditions a 14-1 complete game win over Niagara Falls in June. FERGIE JENKINS — Pitcher/First Base Returning for his 3rd year with the Majors, Fergie, should be over the rookie jitters. After a year of coaching, that understandably de mands considerable time, the London fans should once again have the good fortune of seeing much more of "The Ferg.” in limited action last season, Fergie, showed that he is one of the fine hitters, with a .367 average. What a treat it is for all of us to have this wealth of experience in our midst.

Page 38 DAVE COWDREY — pitcher Dave will be a late acquisition for the Majors pitching staff due to schooling in Detroit at Henry Ford community college, in his second year on a baseball shcolarship, Dave is majoring in criminal justice. Dave will once again be play ing ball in London after a fouryear junior career in Stratford where he was the top pitcher lead ing his team to the inter-county championship in 1982 with a 9 and 4 record. No stranger to the Majors, Dave was their bat boy in the late 70 s.

FRED MILLS — Bus Driver/Equipment Manager Although not a ball player, Fred has developed a great interest in the 86 Majors. Anyone that has had any involvement in city darts certainly recognize this man. After an absence of five years, Fred lead his dart team to a strong second place finish in the 3rd division of the City Dart League. Only a few years ago, Fred was the best in London, and even after a lengthy layoff, Fred isn’t too far from that calibre these days. The ball club is very happy to have Fred with them.
