By TONY BRITT [email protected]

Catholic Charities recently received an unexpected financial gift — it’s first endowment from local residents for the Catholic Charities Lake City Regional office. Philip and Sarai Moses, of Lake City, recently created a perpetual fund with the Catholic Foundation for exclusive support of the agency’s vital programs and services. The amount of the endowment was not disclosed. The gift was matched by First Federal Bank, Lake City, a Catholic Charities community partner, as well as the Catholic Foundation’s board of directors. Suzanne Edwards, regional director at Catholic Charities Lake City Regional Office, said the Moses family made their donation in early December, but the announcement regarding the endowment wasn’t released until Monday. Edwards said she didn’t have any idea the Moses planned to make the donation until she received notification from the Catholic Foundation. “Then, it was followed by a FILE letter from First Federal Bank, More than 130 local students volunteered during Catholic Charities’ Thanksgiving meal distribution in November. saying it was going to match the money,” she said. “So, that was a tional gift,” she said. “This is the first of, I hope, total.
