Stromboli
“Stromboli (1888-1910) ...brown colt, by Chester-Etna...During his racing years he was owned by prominent 19th century Sydney owner J.B. Clark and trained at Randwick by Tom Payten. In 1893 he was packed off to California, where he raced and also sired several subsequent American winners. He appears to have returned to Australia in ca. 1896. He was then purchased by Queensland pastoralist and breeder James Cassady and spent the rest of his life at Cassady's Mungalla Station, near Ingham, in North Queensland.” Provider of photograph suggests that it might have been taken at the Newmarket stables, Randwick. 15995930704_8030150783_o.jpgwww.flickr.com1227 × 1016Search by image
