 Bhimani was a leading cricket commentator in the Eighties and Nineties and is best remembered for being on air during the tied Test of 1986 between India and Australia in Chepauk, Chennai.  He had received a lifetime achievement award for his decades long contribution in the fields of media and commentary in 2013.

First woman IAF Officer Vijayalakshmi Ramanan (retd) passes away Renowned Malayalam poet and Jnanpith laureate Mahakavi Akkitham Achuthan Namboothiri passed away.

She was 96.

 Dr Ramanan was commissioned in the Army Medical Corps on August 22, 1955 and was promoted to the rank of Wing Commander in August 1972. She served as an obstetrician and gynaecologist at various Air Force Hospitals.  She was honoured with the Vishist Seva Medal five years later. She had retired in February, 1979.
