Dimitris Kenourgios is currently Associate Professor of Finance at the National and Kapodistrian of (NKUA), Department of . He received a BSc in Economics from the NKUA, an MSc in Money, Banking and Finance from the University of Birmingham (UK), and a PhD in Finance from the NKUA. He has taught at the Athens University of Economics and Business, the University of , the University of , the and the Open University of Cyprus. Ηe has published more than 50 academic research papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals. His research interests are in the areas of financial contagion, financial integration, emerging capital markets, quantitative easing, European banking union, financial modelling and risk management. He has an extensive experience in consulting, executive training and e-learning services in the areas of financial analysis, investments, and capital markets.

Panayotis Alexakis is a Professor of Business Economics and Markets at the Department of Business Administration of the National and Kapodistrian Univer- sity of Athens. He has been a scholar of the “Alexander S. Onassis” Public Benefit Foundation. He has also taught at the Department of Business Administration of the , at the Hellenic and Cypriot Open University, in postgradu- ate business programs and in business seminars. During his career he has also dealt with issues relating to the cooperation between and enterprises. He has worked at the Ministry of Finance, the Bank of , enterprises and organiza- tions as a consultant or executive and has held various management posts in the financial and non-financial sector. He has been chairman and CEO at the Athens Derivatives Exchange 1998-2004 and the Athens Stock Exchange 2000-2004. Paraskevi Boufounou is Asst. Professor of Development Finance at the De- partment of Economics, Nationtal and Kapodistrian University of Athens and Coordinator of the “MBA in Strategic Management and Competitiveness” degree. Dr. Boufounou holds an Honours First Class Bachelor Degree in Economics from the National & Kapodistrian Univ of Athens (scholarship during studies), a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) in Economics from the Univ of Dundee (UK) and a Ph.D in Economics with High Distinction from the National & Kapodistrian Univ of Athens (teaching assistant scholarship during Ph. D. studies). She has a wide range of Academic experience in teaching at the Undergraduate and Postgraduate level in various Greek and Foreign Universities, and research experience in cooperation with Greek and International public and private research Institutions and Universi- ties. She has numerous publications and her recent research interests are focused on the fields of development finance with specialization to innovative instruments for financing development (crowdfunding, green bonds, etc), financial systems for optimizing managerial efficiency, improving investment environment and investment implementation, cost-benefit analysis for socio-economic evaluation of investment decisions and policy measures. Furthermore, she has a long standing career (more than 30 years) in the Banking/Financial Sector, during which she was appointed top executive managerial positions, both in private and public sector, embracing the full spectrum of financial services, indicatively including: President of “Invest in Greece” (the official agency of the Greek state, under the auspices of the Ministry of Economy and Development, to promote investment in Greece, to attract FDIs and make Greece more attractive as an international business partner), Senior Economic Advisor to the Chair of the Board of National Bank of Greece and to the Chair of the Hellenic Bank Association, Special Economic Advisor to Greek Ministers, General Manager of Commercial Leasing (subsidiary of Commercial Bank of Greece), Di- rector of Commercial Securities (subsidiary of Commercial Bank of Greece), senior executive of the Strategic Planning Department of the Commercial Bank of Greece.

George Chalamandaris is currently Assistant Professor in Finance at the Athens University of Economics and Business at the Department of Accounting and Finance. He graduated from the National Technical University of Athens and continued his studies at Imperial College in London where he also completed his PhD in Quantitative Finance. He has worked in Natwest Markets and Royal Bank of Scotland in London as well as in Emporiki Investment Bank and EFG Eurobank

His main research interests are focused in the field of derivatives, credit risk and asset pricing involving dynamic trading strategies. Dimitrios Dimitriou holds a BSc degree in Economics and a MSc degree in Applied Economics and Finance from National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He also holds a PhD degree in Finance from the (with distinction). He has taught at the University of Ioannina for 3 years. Now, he is visiting lecturer (based on P.D. 407/1980) at AUEB. He served at Ministry of Finance (MoF) for over 5 years in executive departments. Currently, he is member of the Specialized Scientific Staff at the Hellenic Fiscal Council (HFC). Addition- ally, he has published widely in journals such as: International Review of Financial Analysis, Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions and Money, Eco- nomic Modelling, Research in International Business and Finance, etc.

Alexandros Garefalakis is a Chartered Accountant (Fellow of CPA), Manage- ment Accountant (CMA Diploma) and Business Consultant in numerous companies and organizations. Also, he is an Assistant Professor at the Dept. of Business Ad- ministration and , Hellenic Mediterranean University (HMU). He holds a degree in Financial Applications, a Master degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Southampton and a PhD in Accounting from the Hellenic Open University. He has co-authored 2 books on Audit Accounting and Management Accounting issues. He has more than 60 publications in peer-reviewed journals and participation in more than 21 national and international conferences. His areas of research interest include the quality of Narrative information of Financial Reports.

Constantinos Kakouris is a physicist and economist. After secondary education, he succeeded the PanHellenic exams in order to study economics at University of , Thessaloniki, and he continued his studies at Science School of Ar- istotle University of Thessaloniki where he passed the entrance exams of physics department and successfully completed his studies. He also holds a master’s degree in Energy and Environmental Management. During his dissertation, he focused in

376 About the Contributors electricity markets. He worked as an economic and physics tutor in secondary educa- tion’s private sector for two years in Thessaloniki, Greece. He was one of the invited speakers giving presentations concerning sustainable development and renewable energy in 2016 and 2018. As a volunteer, he guided groups in Optics Laboratory of Physics department in University’s open day and he currently works an article, in collaboration with magazine’s editors, concerning physics and economics in order to be published in physics department’s scientific magazine called “Phenomenon”.

Louka T. Katseli is Professor of International Economics and Development at the Department of Economics of the National Kapodistrian University of Athens (1987 -) and Chair of the Board of Directors of the National Bank of Greece in Cyprus, (11/2015 -). She is also Vice-Chair of the Executive Board and Chair of the Finance & Human Resources Committee of the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF), and Co-chair (with Poul N. Rasmussen) of the Independent Commission for Sustainable Equality, Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats - S&D, (Progressive Society). She has served as Chair of the Board of Directors of the National Bank of Greece (3/15 – 11/16) and Chair of the Hellenic Banking Association (4/15 – 11/16). She was Greece’s Minister of Labor and So- cial Security (2010 - 2011), Minister of Economy, Competitiveness and Shipping (2009-2010) and a member of the Hellenic Parliament (2007-2012). Prof. Katseli has also served as Director of the OECD Development Centre in Paris (2003-2007), Director General of the Center of Planning and Economic Research (KEPE) (1982- 1986), Economic Advisor to the Greek Prime Minister (1993-1996) and member of the UN Committee of Development Policy (1996 - 2003), the European Commis- sion’s Economic and Monetary Policy Committees and the “Comité des Sages” on the Reform of the European Social Charter (1995-1997) et al. Prof. Katseli holds a Ph.D. (1978) in International and Development Economics from Princeton Uni- versity (Distinguished Dissertation in Economics), an MPA in Public Affairs(1974) from the Woodrow Wilson School for Public and International Affairs, an MA in Economics (1975) from Princeton University and a BA in Economics (1972, cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa) from Smith College. She has served as Assistant and Associate Professor of Economics at Yale University’s Department of Economics and the School of Organization and Management (1977-1985). She is the recipient of numerous distinctions and fellowships, including that of the Best Young Profes- sor at Yale (1980). She has published extensively in the areas of development and international economics, migration management and institutional economics.

Marios-Nikolaos Kouskoukis is a Visiting Lecturer at the Department of Management and Marketing of European University of Cyprus. Dr. Kouskoukis holds a Bachelor Degree in Economics from Democritus University of Thrace, a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) Degree in Total Quality Management from University of Piraeus and a Ph.D. in Economics with high distinction from of Social and Political Sciences (teaching assistant during Ph. D. studies). He has been academic staff in the past in different Departments of dif- ferent Universities. Particularly, he has taught in the Department of Economics and Business of Neapolis University of Pafos the courses «Business Administration», «Marketing», «Business Communication» and «Business Operations Management», as well as «Regional Economic Development» and «Regulatory Framework of Regional Development» in the Department of Economics and Regional Develop- ment of Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences. In addition, he has supervised and evaluated undergraduate essays at the Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences, as well as postgraduate assignments at the University of Piraeus in the courses «Business Administration» and «Marketing» and at the Ne- apolis University of Pafos. He has working experience, both in public and private sectors, specifically in the fields of Consulting, Education, Health and Finance. Drosos Koutsokostas is a researcher and a scientific associate. He studied economics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (BSc,2002) and Banking and Finance at the Hellenic Open University (MSc,2016). He has been teaching econom- ics in state secondary schools of the Greek ministry of education for over a decade. He has also worked as an accountant in various companies of the private sector. He has published articles in scientific journals, including Managerial Finance, the Journal of Prediction Markets, the Journal of Risk Finance and International Jour- nal of Corporate Finance and Accounting. His currrent research concern portfolio evaluation and market efficiency.

Dimitrios Koutsoupakis is a PhD candidate in Economics at the University of Athens. His research study is on the economic nature of distributed ledgers and

He holds bachelor degree in Economics from University of Ath- ens, MSc in Public Management from Bocconi University and MPhil in Economics from University of Athens. He was offered a scholarship from London School of Economics & Political Science to spend the academic year 2016-2017 as Visiting Research Student. His teaching interest include money, banking, finance, accounting and history of economic thought. Professionally, he is an experienced accountant and financial analyst having worked in Luxembourg, Milan and Athens. Since 2017, he has been serving as Finance Director for a holding company based in Greece.

Christos Lemonakis is an Assistant Professor of Business Administration on SMEs Management at the Hellenic Mediterranean University, Department of Management Science and Technology (Agios Nikolaos). His research interests are SMEs Entrepreneurship, Auditing and Management Accounting.

Andreas Papanastasopoulos is a Civil Engineer (Department of Civil Engineer- ing, School of engineering, University of Patras) with postgraduate degrees (MSc.) in Earthquake Engineering and Seismic Design of Structures at the Hellenic Open University and MSc in Finance and Banking, Applied Economics and Finance, Department of Economics, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

Spyros Papathanasiou is assistant professor at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He studied economics at the University of Athens (BSc, 1995) and Banking at the Hellenic Open University (MSc, 2003). He also holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the Hellenic Open University (2009). Dr. Papathanasiou possesses an extensive academic and professional experience. He has worked at Solidus Securi- ties, Prelium Securities, Value Capital Securities and ICAP Hellas S.A. Finally, he is certified Analyst and Portfolio Manager from Hellenic Capital Market Commis- sion. His main research interests are in the areas of finance, financial markets, and alternative investments.

Vasileios Pappas is currently an Associate Professor in Finance at the University of Kent, UK. He holds a BSc in Economics (University of Piraeus, Greece), an MSc in Money, Banking & Finance (Lancaster University, UK) and a PhD in Econom- ics (Lancaster University, UK). He has worked as a Senior Research Associate and member of the GOLCER research centre in Lancaster University and as a Lecturer in Finance at the University of Bath. His core research interests lie in the areas of banking with a focus on studies related to banking risk, efficiency and productivity analysis across banking systems (e.g. Islamic, community and commercial banks). Other research interests include financial contagion, efficiency modelling and fi- nancial econometrics, with a focus on realised volatility modelling and forecasting.

Panagiotis Petris graduated from the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department of Imperial College London. He holds a Master’s Degree in Risk Management from Cass Business School – City University of London and a Ph.D. in Finance from the Department of Economics of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. His research interests are in the area of real estate finance. Panagiotis has taught, Financial Derivatives, Applications of Quantitative Analysis at the Department of Economics of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). He also teaches Real Estate Finance and Investments at the ex- ecutive post-graduate programs of the NKUA. His papers have been presented in domestic and international scientific conferences.

Dimitris Psychoyios is a Senior Lecturer in Finance & Investment at the Uni- versity of Piraeus. He has graduated from the Department of Mathematics of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, and he obtained an MBA and his Ph.D. in Finance from the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). His first placement was at Manchester Business School as a Lecturer in Finance. Dimitris’ current research interests lie in corporate finance, environmental finance, energy finance, asset pricing, and risk management. Part of his research has been published in international scientific journals and it has been cited by more than 800 authors. He has taught in MBA programs in Greece, Europe, and the USA and did research, consulting and participated in executive education projects for Greek and European companies.

Efthimios Roumpis is a Financial Modeling Consultant of Deloitte’s Financial Services practice in Greece. His fields of expertise include market risk modeling, financial analysis, valuation of financial instruments and management of large databases. He has gained experience in banking sector by participating in many assignments of the Financial Services Industry consulting team. Before joining Deloitte, Efthymios worked as advisor to Tufton Oceanic hedge fund. He had a key role in the development and maintenance of market risk models and financial models for shipping and energy sectors. Efthymios combines robust and advanced technical skills and he is an expert in programming languages (MatLab, VBA, Py- thon, SQL). He hold a PhD on the subject of “Evaluation of Investment Strategies for the Formation of Dynamic Hedge Fund Portfolios”.

Theodore Simos worked as researcher at the Centre of Planning and Economic Research, at the Directorate of Planning and Economic Studies of the National Bank of Greece at the Research Centre CORE, Universite Catholique de Louvain, Belgium, ICMM University of Strathclyde, ESRC – UK and at the Center for Labour Economics, LSE, UK. He has taught at the University of Crete, University of Aegean

Nikolaos Stoupos is an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at Department of Economics, University of Patras(based on Presidential Decree 407/80) and is currently teaching courses in Finance and Economics. Also, he is a Post-Doc Research Fellow at the University of Macedonia, Greece. He holds a Ph.D. in International and European Studies (2019) from the University of Macedonia, Greece. In 2010, he successfully completed his postgraduate studies with Merit, at the University of Portsmouth, UK by obtaining a M.Sc. in Business Economics, Finance and Banking. Also, he holds a Hons B.Sc. in Accounting and Finance from the University of Macedonia, Greece. He has participated in research projects of the EU. He has several publica- tions in international academic journals, such as Research in International Business and Finance (2*), Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance (2*), International Review of Applied Economics (1*), International Economic Journal (1*) and Acta Oeconomica (1*). Alexia Thomaidou is currently working as a custom clearer assistant and business consultant in SMEs. Her research interests include financial contagion, Exchange Traded Funds, Mutual Funds, market analysis, and applied corporate finance.

Athanasios Triantafyllou joined Essex Business School in October 2017 as Lecturer in Finance. He is currently a visiting lecturer at the department of Applied Mathematical and Physical Sciences, NTUA and a visiting scholar at SC Johnson College of Business, Cornell university. Athanasios holds a PhD in Finance and an MPhil in Economics from University of Athens, an MSc in Accounting and Finance from AUEB and a BSc in Mathematics from University of Athens. Prior to joining EBS, he was working as consultant in Quantitative Risk Management in Ernst & Young and he has participated in projects for large US investment banks (as part of the Ernst & Young US Quant Hub) dealing with market risk management and the pricing of complex derivative products. He has also worked as researcher in general equilibrium modeling at the E3Mlab of NTUA focusing on the modeling and the respective impact of macroeconomic and energy policy scenarios on EU- 28 economies.

Ioannis Tsakalos is an adjunct researcher at the National and Kapodistrian Uni- versity of Athens (Department of Economic Studies), the Hellenic Open University (School of Social Sciences, MSc in Banking) and the University of the Aegean (Busi- ness School). He graduated in Business Administration (2003) from the University
