Location

Amboseli National Park lies immediately North West of Mt. Kilimanjaro bordering Tanzania. The park covers 392 sq.km and forms part of the much larger 3,000 sq.km Amboseli ecosystem. Large concentrations of wildlife occur here in the dry season, making Amboseli a popular tourist destination. The estimated number of visitors to the park is estimated at 87,000 per annum.

The Sentrim Amboseli tented camp is located adjacent to the Amboseli National Park and specifically nearby to the Kimana gate. The main road into the park from Nairobi is via Namanga (240km) on the Nairobi-Arusha road, through Meshanani gate. The other access from Nairobi is via Emali on the Nairobi-Mombasa road while access from Mombasa is mainly through Tsavo West via Kimana gate. It takes approximately 4 hours by road to Sentrim Amboseli from Nairobi. The lodge is also located in close proximity to other well-known camps and lodges such as Kibo Safari camp, Mada Kilima safari Camp, Sopa Lodge, Serena and Oltukai lodges.

Description

Sentrim Amboseli presently comprises of 60 fully furnished ensuite luxury canvas tents set in rows directly overlooking the famous Mount Kilimanjaro. The property also comprises of a reception area cum offices, lounge, bar, dining room, kitchen, the manager’s house, generator and workshop building; the drivers and staff quarters blocks, all totalling circa 56,084 square feet built-up area. In addition, the camp has a swimming pool and pool bar area, car park and the guard’s house. Each tent is set on a raised concrete plinth finished in mazeras stone and high pitched makuti roof. Washrooms have natural stone high walling internally finished with ceramic tiles.

The immediate camp area is surrounded by two parallel security electric fencing on treated posts and access is via a double opening wooden/metal gate. Water to the property is supplied via two sunken boreholes located within the fenced area. The water is pumped into a treatment plant having 9 plastic tanks each of 8,000 litres. After final filtration the water is pumped to the main overhead water reservoir collection tank for distribution to other areas by gravitational flow. Power to the property is generated from two 105 KVA generators. These are supplemented by back up inverters which are connected to the tents and solar panels which are used for heating water. Drainage is to a septic tanks and soaks pit. Tenure

The property is held under one title totalling approximately 58 acres as follows.

Kimana/Tikondo/2916 measures circa 58 acres and is held under a Lease Agreement between Simel Ole Laon and Lemukeku Ole Laon for a lease term of 33 years from 01.01.2015. The current annual rent payable is (Revisable) Kshs. 209,952 plus US$ 2 per night for every adult guest payable in arrears every 15th of the month. Upon the expiration of the term the tenant has the right of renewal for a further term as agreed by the parties.
