APPLICATION PROCEDURE

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

The Jaguar Conservation Fund was established in 2003 by the (WPZ) to support field conservation efforts for . The Fund’s goal is to support projects that lead directly to conservation of jaguars and their habitat by incorporating conservation, education, and research components, along with strong connections to communities living with jaguars. The average Jaguar Conservation Fund award ranges from $2,000 to $5,000 USD. The total amount available to be awarded in 2015 is $10,000.00.

FUNDING GUIDELINES

Projects which clearly demonstrate that their objectives for the funding year will lead to positive outcomes for long-term jaguar survival have the best chance of receiving support. We especially seek projects that directly address conservation of jaguars through one or more of the following: 1. Habitat protection. 2. Conservation education. 3. Community involvement. 4. Involves collaboration with other partners, including other conservation organizations.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

 ALL materials must be received in electronic format. You should include photos, articles, maps, reports, etc. with your application as long as they have been scanned into the final document. 11 pt type or larger must be used.

 If you are a 2014 recipient of WPZ funding and have not submitted your mid-term report, please do so. Grantees with past due reports will not be considered for funding during this granting cycle.

 Application Deadline: Friday, January 23, 2015. Applications should be emailed to: [email protected]. Grantees will be notified in early April, 2015 of the granting process outcomes. Incomplete applications will not be accepted for review.

1 CONDITIONS OF ACCEPTANCE

 It is the responsibility of the grant recipient to obtain all needed permits, visas and/or permissions before carrying out this research. Grants will not be awarded to recipients without the appropriate documentation.

 Grant recipients will be expected to keep the WPZ Field Conservation Department informed of their progress and any unexpected problems.

 All grantees must submit a final report at the conclusion of the grant period. This report should include: achieved outcomes; unexpected problems; lessons learned; a financial accounting of the items/activities that WPZ supported; and three high-resolution photographs with captions, representative of the project. 10% of the grant will be awarded after the final report is received, unless other arrangements are made in advance.

 Publications or presentations resulting from this support must include acknowledgment recognizing Woodland Park Zoo. Please send copies of any publications, thesis or PR materials to the WPZ Field Conservation Department.

 The Woodland Park Zoo has the right to use information from the final report, including submitted images, for WPZ publications and promotions.
