Flanders Family Visiting Professor Flanders Family Visiting Professor in Medical Simulation in Medical Simulation (combined Surgical and Anesthesia Grand Rounds) Kappy Flanders, M.S.M. Kappy Flanders is an emerita member of the Board of Governors of McGill University and has a particular interest in education and communication, as do her four children. In 2009 Mrs. Flanders was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by McGill University. She is the Founder of the McGill “Minis” series (Medicine, Law, Music, Science, Biz, EdPsych and Pharma) as well as the Founder and Co-chairman of the Council of Palliative Care, McGill. She was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal by the Governor General of Canada in recognition of her involvement in Palliative Care and in 2013 she received the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal. She and her children have endowed the Flanders Family Academic Travel Fund to allow for the exchange of work and knowledge of simulation-based medical education. Susan lives in New York where she is Director of Missions for United Jewish Appeal. Judith is an author who lives in London, England. Her most recent book will be published in October. Steven is a financial manager and is married to Kat McKibben. They live in New Jersey with their children, Emma and Allie Sir Liam Donaldson Flanders and Madison McKibben. Professor Sir Liam Donaldson Chair of Health Policy PROGRAM Imperial College London Professor Sir Liam Donaldson is recognised as an international champion of Flanders Family Visiting Professor patient safety and public health. He was the foundation chair of the World Health Organisation World Alliance for Patient Safety, launched in 2004. He is a past in Medical Simulation (combined Surgical and Anesthesia Grand Rounds) vice-chairman of the World Health Organisation Executive Board. He is now the World Health Organisation’s Envoy for Patient Safety and Chairman of the Independent Monitoring for the Polio Eradication Programme. In the UK, he is “Safer Health Care: currently Chair of Health Policy at Imperial College London and Chancellor of Dispelling the shadows” Newcastle University. 7h30 to 8h30 Prior to this appointment Sir Liam was the Chief Medical Officer for England, and Montreal General Hospital the United Kingdom’s Chief Medical Adviser, from 1998-2010. During this time Sir William Osler Amphitheatre he held critical responsibilities across the whole field of public health and health care.
