Mary Stevens, author, came and spoke to the children about her latest book ‘‘The Warrior Monkey and the Volcano Adventure’. The Fire Brigade came and gave a fire safety talk to the year 5 and 6 children. The police came and gave a talk to our reception and year 1 children, they tried on police hats, vests and explored the police van and made the blue lights flash. The infant children performed beautifully and thoroughly entertained their parents and residents of the local community with the nativity ‘A Special Kind of Present’. All the performances well very well attended and members of the community stayed for tea and cake, waited on by the Year 6 children. The school choir have been very busy. They produced a fantastic performance at the community centre on Saturday 15th Dec. They have supported the rest of the key stage 2 singing two songs, which were recorded by BBC Radio Oxford. These were played to the nation on 17th December. Our FOWS (Friends of Wootton School) held the following events: An Autumn Disco, a school tea shop, organised Christmas cards designed by the children ran a very successful Christmas Fayre on Friday 6th Dec and our children were very lucky to receive a visit from Santa. On 13th Dec everyone came to school wearing a Christmas jumper in aid of Save the Children. The last week of term was exceptionally busy with class Christmas parties, pantomime, school Christmas dinner finishing with our annual Carols by Candlelight service. We do have spaces available in reception, year 1, 2 5 and 6 please contact the school office on 01865 735643 for more information. Finally I would like to thank everyone who has been involved with the school since September. I have been very impressed with the warm welcome that I have received from all in the Wootton community, and I am very much enjoying being part of such a vibrant village. A story, a craft activity, and a small snack is always popular! For very little ones there is a young children’s section at the back of church for quiet play. The third Sunday in the month is an all-age service designed for children and adults to stay together in worship—lively songs and a simple, open style. All our leaders are DBS checked and
