In the first of two programmes covering the All Ireland Pipe Band Championships, on BBC One NI on Tuesday, August 6 at 10.35pm, Ralph McLean and Claire McCollum present highlights of this year’s event featuring the Grade 1 competition. As the bands get ready for the World Championships, Ralph and Claire capture the action from Londonderry’s St Columb’s Park, where the All Ireland Pipe Band Championships took place as part of the Derry~Londonderry UK City Of Culture 2013 celebrations.

World Police & Fire Games, BBC Two Northern Ireland, Saturday, August 3 at 7.30pm

BBC Northern Ireland brings live, full coverage of the opening ceremony of the 20th World Police & Fire Games in Belfast next month.

Live pictures will be beamed across the world through online streaming from the opening ceremony which takes place on Thursday, August 1 in the grounds of the King’s Hall complex. To access the live stream log on to bbc.co.uk/ni

Coverage will begin from 6.30pm (BST).

BBC NI cameras will also be recording at the opening event for a special one-hour highlights programme to be shown shortly after the ceremony. The programme is on BBC Two Northern Ireland on Saturday, August 3 at 7.30pm and repeated on Tuesday, August 6, on BBC Two Northern Ireland at 7.00pm.

3 Economics and Business Editor Appointment, BBC News NI BBC News NI has appointed John Campbell as Economics and Business Editor

BBC News NI has appointed John Campbell as Economics and Business Editor working across its News and Current Affairs output on TV, Radio and Online.

John, 35, who is currently Assistant Editor of BBC Newsline with responsibility for producing business content, will take up the role in September.

John joined the BBC in 2001 as a News Trainee and has worked across a wide range of BBC News NI’s output in a production capacity.
