Follow these instructions to install and start your system equipment.

Check packaged items

Confirm that all system parts listed in the Packaged Items Checklist are contained with no damage. If any items are missing, or if there are any problems with the packaged items, contact the dealer from whom you purchased the system equipment.

Install the rack rails

When you mount the system unit to the rack cabinet, use the rack rails provided for exclusive use with the system unit. Use a Hitachi rack cabinet or an EIA standard rack.

The following steps describe the procedure to install the rack rails in a rack cabinet. 1. Slide out the inner rail from outer rail while pressing the button on the inner rail until the inner rail stops. Then the inner rail is locked by lock latch (white). 2. Further slide out the inner rail while pulling the lock latch (white), and disengage the inner rail.

2 Hitachi Command Suite CR210H Server Option Quick Start Guide 4. Align the guide at the front of the outer rail with the guide hole at the front of the rack cabinet and lock the guide into the hole.

5. Release the lock lever at the rear of the outer rail, align the guide with the guide hole at the rear of the rack cabinet 6. Lock the guide into the hole, and engage the lock lever to fix the outer rail to the rack cabinet.

4 Hitachi Command Suite CR210H Server Option Quick Start Guide Attach the rack rails to the system unit and install in a rack 1. Align the hole of the inner rails to the tabs of the system unit. Then place and slide the inner rails toward the front of the system unit.

2. Align the inner rails on either side of the system unit with the outer rails. 3. Slide the inner rails into the outer rails until the inner rails stop and are locked by lock latches (White). 4. Pull the lock latches (Blue) and slide the inner rails all the way into the rack cabinet. Then the inner rails are locked by the buttons.

Perform the following steps to set up network connections. 1. Connect the system network cable to the Management interface connector port, as shown.

2. Install the Remote Console Application to your PC. The CR210H Remote Console Application, and manual, are included in the media . 3. Set the IP address. The default IP address shown below is set as the factory. If you want to change the IP address, connect to the system using the default IP address, and then change the IP address.

Connect power

Connect the power cord to the power supply at the rear of the system.

CAUTION! If you remove the power plug from the system unit or the outlet, wait at least 30 seconds before reconnecting the power plug. Otherwise the system might not start.

6 Hitachi Command Suite CR210H Server Option Quick Start Guide After connecting the power cord to the system, fix the power cord using a cable clamp attached to the power unit to prevent disconnection. After fixing the power cord, push the cable clamp in the direction of the power plug.

Power on the system

When you connect the power cord to AC power, the SERVICE LED at the front and rear of the system will blink for approximately 60 seconds. The MAINTENANCE LED remains off at this time. While the SERVICE LED blinks, pressing the POWER LED switch turns on the system. However, the system does not start until the SERVICE LED stops blinking.

To turn on power to the system, press the POWER LED on the front of the system. It will turn green.

If power is lost to the system due to a tripped circuit breaker or a power plug being removed, wait 60 seconds before restoring power to the unit.

Once POST has started memory check, do not turn off power until the OS starts. Otherwise, the system might not start properly.

When AC power is supplied to the system, the SERVICE LED on the front and rear of the system unit blinks for about 60 seconds.

Even if the POWER LED switch is pushed while the SERVICE LED is blinking, the system is turned on but does not work until the blinking stops.

Windows is pre-installed on your system at the factory.

NOTE: Hitachi Data Systems has completed the Server software license agreement and HBA installation on behalf of the customer.

Logon procedure

You will need to log on as Windows Administrator. 1. Enter the password for Administrator in [New password] and [Confirm password], and then click the [OK] button. The default password is Hitachi123!. 2. Change the default password to a password of your .

TIP: Combine three of of the following characters. The password must satisfy the following conditions: • Upper-case letters A to Z • Lower-case letters a to z • Numerics 1 to 9 • Symbols such as a comma and a period

Do not use three or more consecutive characters contained in the user’s name or full name. 3. The system displays “Your password has been changed.” Click the [OK] button.

Hitachi Command Suite software for Windows

Hitachi Command Suite software is pre-installed at the factory.

Network configuration on Windows

Add an entry on “hosts” (C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts) to make sure the appliance server’s IP address can be resolved as IPv4 address. For example:

10.208.115.205 ha8kxj02

This is necessary since IPv4 address communication is required between HDvM and HTnM, HTnM Server and HTnM agent for RAID. All of them are installed on the same server, but IPv4 is required for inter-process communication.
