Profile Jann joined the Ministry of Education in September 2007 as a Project Manager Schooling Improvement. In July 2010, she went on to lead the Education, Curriculum and Performance team in Lower Hutt for three years before going on to be Regional Manager in October 2013. That position covered Early Learning and Schooling across Central South and included , , Manawatu.

Prior to joining the Ministry, Jann was a Manager at NZQA where she led the School Relationship Managers who supported, monitored and reviewed secondary schools in their delivery of national qualifications. She was involved in the development and implementation of the National Certificates of Educational Achievement as well as being responsible for the delivery of tertiary examinations and the transition to national certificates and diplomas. Jann started her career as a secondary school teacher in .

Responsibilities I am responsible for ensuring that all Ministry staff understand our communities’ aspirations and needs so that we can deliver a responsive service. We are here to support the delivery of quality education in our area so that all children and young people can be successful.

Profile Rae has spent the past 11 years working in a variety of roles in the Ministry. The majority of her work has been in the Taranaki/Whanganui/Manawatu area, managing and leading teams to support schools and early learning providers. Rae has also been focused on developing partnerships with key community groups and agencies. Opportunities for Rae within the Ministry have included six months in supporting schools, following the 2011 earthquake and working in a national team to support the sector focus on achieving the Better Public Service target of 85% of school leavers attaining an NCEA L2 qualification or above by 2017.

Profile Marlene began a career in early childhood in South Auckland as a Kindergarten teacher. She has worked as a professional development facilitator; has managed a large multi-site early learning service and spent some years as a Reviewer with ERO in Christchurch, and on the West Coast.

Marlene joined the Ministry in 2007 and during this time completed a Masters in Education Administration.

Marlene supported the implementation of the participation programme and the roll out of the “strengthening Early Learning” (SELO) programme.

Profile Warwick is a senior advisor working out of both the and Whanganui offices. His background in education includes 20 years as a secondary school teacher in both the Hawkes Bay and and 20 years as a secondary school principal (Wanganui High School and Burnside High School).

I joined the Ministry in August 2014 and work with schools across Palmerston North and the Taihape area.

Profile Robyn has been involved in education for over 30 years. She has taught in a range of primary and intermediate schools and has held the position of principal in three schools. Most of this time has been in decile 1 and 2 schools and that coupled with an interest in assessment for learning has given her valuable work experience of what works to accelerate the achievement of priority students.

Robyn joined the MOE in 2011 as a Student Achievement Function Practitioner (SAF) and has worked in over 25 primary schools during that time.

Profile Dianne is primary trained and has been involved in education for 27 years, having taught in both the primary and secondary school settings. With a focus on improving educational outcomes for Māori learners, Dianne has been a facilitator for Te Kauhua, He Kākano and Kia Eke Panuku. Her interests include, Māori Education, transitioning of students across the schooling sector and alternative education. Dianne joined the Ministry in late 2014 as a Student Achievement Function Practitioner (SAF).

Profile Paul has been a principal of an Area School, deputy principal and HOD Mathematics and Science in secondary schools. He has also taught in four different secondary schools across three different Pacific countries.

Profile Lia has had a wide and varied experience in the education sector for over 30 years. She has a background in teaching, senior management, and principalship in urban and rural primary schools. Prior to joining the Ministry, Lia worked as an educational contractor, statutory appointee, board trainer, and for six years as co-ordinator of an outreach programme for ORS funded students.

Profile Mark is the senior adviser for schools in South and Central Taranaki. Since 2001, Mark has worked with many schools from Taranaki to Wellington to develop a restorative approach that puts respectful relationships at the heart of school life. The work has involved restorative conferencing tools as well as the culture change that comes through healthy everyday interactions. Mark has a background in youth work and social work. He helps lead a local youth group. Mark is married to Sharon. Together with their two sons, they’ve offered foster care to local teenagers since 1992.

Profile Amohia has been involved in education for 16 Years. She has been a principal, worked as a teacher in mainstream and Māori medium settings and taught in tertiary. Amohia has facilitated many community educational initiatives in regards to Restorative communities and raising Māori student achievement. Amohia’s passions are Raising Māori achievement through kaupapa Māori Pedagogy, Restorative Schools and Self directed learning using dispositions and 21st century tools. Amohia joined the Ministry in 2015.
