Arthur Uphill (1931-2009) became a cataloguer with Bertram Rota in 1955 and remained with the firm for nearly 38 years. Mr. Uphill’s passion and cataloguing specialty was the work of expatriate authors living and working in Paris after 1918 and was regarded as an authority of international renown. He was especially regarded for his knowledge on the life and works of Gertrude Stein and Samuel Beckett.
