The 4x200 set a school record of 1:24.08 to take fifth overall while the 4x100 squad placed sixth in the prestigious event. Kareem Fair (Bethune-Cookman) placed first in the 100 (10.38) at the North Florida Invitational. Jeremiah Peters (Bethune-Cookman) won the shot put with a throw of 55-10.25 feet at the North Florida Invitational. Track & Field Performers of the Week The MEAC will name men’s and women’s track performers of the week each Jaelen Williams (Hampton) won the 400-meter hurdles at the Penn Relays in a time of 51.23. He was the first individual winner at the Wednesday throughout the season in the following categories: track performer relays under Hampton head coach Maurice Pierce. and field performer. Nominees are submitted to the conference office by the insti- tution’s sports information offices. Central May 2 Dominique Clegget Howard MEAC Track & Field Weekly Honors Trequan Barnes of Norfolk State and Trevor Stewart of North Carolina A&T State were named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference’s (MEAC) Men’s Co-Track Performers of the week while Martha Bissah of Norfolk State was selected as the Women’s Track Performer of the Week, the conference announced today. The Norfolk State duo of Jacob Milton and Garth Warner shared Co-Field Performers of the Week honors while Howard’s Dominique Cleggett was named Women’s Field Performer of the Week. Barnes (Fr., Winston-Salem, N.C.) won first place at the Virginia Grand Prix with a personal-best time of 46.15 in the 400-meter dash. The time ranks as the second-fastest in the MEAC, second in the NCAA East Region and 23rd nationally. His time is the fastest by a Spartan since 2016. Stewart (Fr., Lorton, Va.) claimed the 400-meter championship at the LSU Invitational this past weekend with a winning time of 45.82. Stewart’s time ranks first in the MEAC and 13th in the nation. Bissah (So., Accra, Ghana) is continuing to peak at the right time as she posted a personal-best time for the third consecutive week. The sophomore won the 800 at the Virginia Grand Prix in a time of 2:04.32 and ranks atop the MEAC and 11th nationally. Cleggett (Sr., New Orleans, La.) made history as Howard’s first female student-athlete to win an individual event at the Penn Relays.
