Dear Bruin Friends and Family,

That’s the way we do things in… ! The single line from our performance has informed everything we do in rehearsal. Because truly we’ve never done any production quite like this. The material is new, the dances are highly challenging, and the perpetrator gets away with it!

Last academic year, our faculty attended Ministry Days at St. Francis High School in Sacramento. We were encouraged to see posters for “Chicago: High School Edition“! Is this all-girls high school actually producing Chicago!? The revelation was truly an epiphany because we have wanted to do that show for quite some time. I was always hesitant about it since the main character, , gets away with murder. As we worked through early rehearsals, Roxie’s defeat became clearly a personal defeat because she does not win the fame she truly craves, thus the morality of the play (not Roxie’s actions) is redeemed. So “Chicago” is less of a prosecution of an individual as it is an indictment of our legal system, if not our entire society.

Once again, like last year, we have a great crew of singers, dancers, designers, and especially choreographers. Francesca Fogli has truly outdone herself. She is fortunate to have a crew of talented and dedicated performers at her beck and call. Our leads are truly great performers. Each has had studies to maintain, lines and lyrics to memorize, and dances to work through. It is most remarkable that we’ve only been working on this since January 7, just about eight weeks ago. Truly an amazing accomplishment. And our ensemble is second to none. You will truly enjoy tonight’s performance.

Enjoy the show,

Bill Kraft Department Chair, Visual and Performing Arts St. Patrick-St. Vincent Catholic High School

The performance will last approximately two hours, with one intermission.

Michaela Lamb as This is Michaela's (Class of 2021) second musical production on the SPSV stage, last year she played Tanya in Mamma Mia!

"Musical Theatre really lets me do what I love, sing while getting a chance to perform. I wouldn't have come so far if it weren't for the support and love of my family and friends."

Kai DeVigal as Roxie Hart Kai (Class of 2022) is already an accomplished thespian with productions and awards on her resume including; Annie, My Son Pinocchio, The Jungle Book, Mamma Mia!, and Passion Plays for local churches. "I was thrilled to hear that we would be performing Chicago this year and playing Roxie has been a fun and memorable experience."

Scotty Ringler as Amos Hart Scotty's (Class of 2022) theatrical resume includes performances in both comedies and musicals at SPSV. You may recognize him from his role as Gaston from Beauty of the Beast (North Hills Christian School), Harry Bright in last year's production of Mamma Mia! and Lancelot in the Traveling Troupe production of Knights of the Rad Table.

"Musical theater is an environment where I feel most at home. Everyone is so kind, social, and welcoming in this group and with the guidance of Mr. Kraft, our amazing director, it provides the space for me to learn and do my best."

Francesca Fogli as Liz Francesca (Class of 2021) embraces the challenge of taking on multiple roles in this year's production. You may have noticed that she is credited as our Choreographer for Chicago and she plays the murderess Liz. Previously Francesca appeared in Urinetown and Mamma Mia!

"I'm thankful for my friends and family who constantly push me to give 100%. I would not be who I am without them."

Amber Larkin as Hunyak Amber (Class of 2020) is a veteran on the stage. Since her days at Holy Spirit School in Fairfield, where she got her start in Alladin, Jr. and Legally Blonde, Jr. she's been inspired to perform.
