DAVIS, Calif. -- Host UC Davis survived an end-of-regulation rally by visiting Humboldt State, opening overtime by scoring the first 14 points of the extra period en route to a 77-64 exhibition victory on Saturday afternoon at The Pavilion. Sophomore Rachel Nagel finished with a team-high 15 points and added six rebounds to lead three Aggies in double figures, as senior Alyson Doherty fought through foul trouble to post 13 points, nine rebounds, and five blocks, while senior Celia Marfone added 12 points and nine rebounds -- including a pair of key three-pointers during that overtime run. Amanda Kunst finished with a game-high 19 points to go with nine rebounds, hitting 7-of-14 from the field in 36 minutes. Kiana Brown and Neika Puryear finished in double figures, with 11 and 10 points, respectively -- the latter nailing a three-pointer from the left elbow with 16 seconds to go in regulation to force overtime. A’Jaee Foster finished with a game-high 10 rebounds for the Lumberjacks to lead all players. Marfone’s third three of the game kicked-off the overtime, jump- starting the winning run that featured another from long-distance from Pele Gianotti and Marfone’s fourth from deep that eventually pushed the UC Davis lead to 12 points at 73-61 with just over two min- utes to play. Gianotti scored inside to lengthen the run to 14 straight points before a three by Puryear stopped the bleeding but, by then, it was too late. Freshman Morgan Bertsch hit a short jumper with 29 seconds to play to cap the scoring as the Aggies opened with a win. A pair of free throws by Doherty, and a three-pointer by Gianotti put the Aggies up five with just 39 seconds to play, but the ‘Jacks responded. Kunst found a way to stay in bounds on the baseline out of a timeout, looping up a shot from under her own basket to make it a three-point game and give Humboldt State life. A pair of misses from the line by UC Davis opened the door a bit further and the Lumberjacks took advantage as Brown drove the line and found Puryear, who took a tipped ball, and sank the game-tying three from the left elbow to tie the game.
