OWLS COMING OFF FIRST DIVISION I POSTSEASON The 2011 season saw Kennesaw State make its first postseason appear- ance since becoming a Division I program when they qualified for the Atlantic Sun Conference tournament. The Owls finished the year with a 32-25 record and were 18-13 in the conference as they finished third in the league.

FREEMAN BACK FOR JUNIOR SEASON Standout catcher Ronnie Freeman is back for his junior season after a sophomore cam- paign in which he batted .392 while earning Second Team All-Atlantic Sun Conference honors. Freeman, who played this summer in the NECBL, was named one of the top prospects in the league while also enjoying a stint playing for the USA Collegiate National Team. The Lawrenceville, Ga. native also made headlines last season as he set the Kennesaw State record with a 42-game hitting streak. The streak is the 12th longest in the history of the NCAA and the fifth-longest in NCAA Division I history. It is also the longest Division I hitting streak in the state of Georgia.

THE BIG THREE Three Kennesaw State players enjoyed all-conference seasons last year. After a strong conference season, left fielder Aaron Dobbs (.303, 0hr 35 rbi, 21sb) was voted a First Team All-Atlantic Sun Conference selection while catcher Ronnie Free- man (.392, 10hr, 51rbi) and first baseman Andy Chriscaden (.314, 15hr, 74rbi) were both Second Round All-A-Sun picks.

HOW ABOUT THOSE OWLS With Ronnie Freeman’s 42-game hitting streak last season, it made Kennesaw State the only program in the history of the NCAA, at any level, to have two players attain hitting streaks of 40 or more games. Former Owls All-American and Jason Jones hit in 41 consecutive games during the 1998-99 seasons.

AROUND THE MAJOR LEAGUE RANKS of the is the Owls only current major league player. The 33-year old Harris, who played for the Owls in 1999, was a 24th round pick of the . The utility player finished his 10th professional season and has played with six different teams during his career, Baltimore, , , , and the Mets.

MAKING THEIR WAY UP THE LADDER The Owls currently have nine players in the minor leagues. First round draft picks and Kyle Heckathorn enjoyed strong seasons at the A level, with Jenkins pitching for New Hampshire Fisher Cats and Heckathorn throwing for the Huntsville Stars. In addition, former KSU pitchers Kenny Faulk ( Advanced Lakeland Flying Tigers), Ryan Rodebaugh (Class A Advanced ), Justin Freeman (Double A Carolina Mudcats), Bryan Blough (Class A Advanced Winston-Salem Dash) and Justin Edwards (Class A Quad Cities River Bandits) have all enjoyed excellent seasons throughout the minors. Josh Whitaker (Class A Burlington Bees) was promoted to the Stockton Ports of the Class A Advanced Califor- nia League and Tyler Stubblefield (Class A Fort Wayne Tin Caps) had a brief stint with the Tucson Padres in July.
