  • Congress of the United States Washington, DC 20515
Congress of the United States Washington, DC 20515 June 14, 2021 The Honorable Nancy Pelosi Speaker of the House H-232, The Capitol Washington, D.C. 20515 Dear Madam Speaker: We write today to urge you to fully reopen the House of Representatives. The positive impact of increasing vaccination rates and decreasing cases of COVID-19 are clear to see. Businesses are open, sporting venues and cultural institutions have welcomed back fans and visitors, and restrictions have been lifted. On June 11, Washington D.C. fully reopened and lifted the restrictions put in place to stop the spread of COVID-19. Unfortunately, the United States Capitol and the People’s House have failed to do the same. The Capitol remains closed to the American people and the House continues to maintain policies that run contrary to science of COVID-19. It is time for you to reopen the House and get back to serving the American people. Weekly case numbers in the United States have reached their lowest point since March of 2020 at the very start of the pandemic, and every day hundreds of thousands of Americans are being vaccinated. This also holds true for the Washington D.C. metropolitan area and the Capitol Hill community specifically. Over the last two weeks cases are down 36% in Washington D.C. and over 40% in both Virginia and Maryland. On Capitol Hill, no congressional staffer is known to have tested positive in weeks and no Member of Congress is known to have tested positive in months. This can no doubt be attributed to the institution’s steady access to vaccinations.

  • 2015 Voting Record
2015 VOTING RECORD 2016 INTRODUCTION The American Federation of Government Employees, AFL-CIO, is the nation’s largest federal employee union, representing more than 670,000 federal and D.C. government workers nationwide and overseas. Workers in virtually every function of government depend upon AFGE for legislative advocacy, legal representation, technical expertise, and informational services. AFGE is proud to represent federal and D.C. government workers because they are the vital threads of the fabric of American life. Government workers inspect the food we eat and the places we work. They protect citizens from the illicit flow of drugs, maintain the safety of our nation’s borders, and keep the national defense systems prepared for any danger. They care for our nation’s veterans and serve as a vital link to Social Security recipients. AFGE takes seriously its responsibility to protect the rights of the working and middle class Americans who make up the federal and D.C. workforces. The union believes the best way to improve government’s effectiveness and efficiency is to treat federal and D.C. workers as valuable resources rather than easy targets. Federal labor unions, including AFGE, are not currently afforded the same full-scope collective bargaining rights as unions representing private sector workers. For this reason, AFGE relies on a comprehensive legislative and political action program to deal with issues that affect the federal and D.C. workforces. When Congress tackles government employee pay and benefit issues or debates funding of vital government programs, AFGE is on the scene representing its members. The 2015 Voting Record shows where House and Senate lawmakers stood on the issues that were most important to federal and D.C.

The women who lead the San Gabriel Valley support Mike Eng for State Senate EL MONTE, CA — There are two candidates for State Senate in our district, a man and a woman. But only Mike Eng is endorsed by California NOW Pac, the California Democratic Party and our Democratic leaders. Why are women uniting for Mike when he is running against a woman? Because Mike Eng is the only candidate with a proven record on the issues we care about most: • Mike fought to strengthen and renew the Violence Against Women Act, and co-authored Senate Joint Resolution 20 to demand the continuation of support for victims and awareness of Domestic Violence. • Mike worked to increase prevention efforts and legal protections for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking. • Mike has the courage to stand up to Donald Trump and expand access to affordable health care in California. He’s supported by the United Nurses Associations of California, SEIU Nurses 121RN and the California Nurses Association. • Mike — a college teacher and former community college board vice- president — is an effective champion for education and affordable college for all. “Mike Eng has proven that he stands up for school funding, access to healthcare for all, increased childcare and early education, and equality for women.” -Kolieka Seigle, President of California National Organization for Women The women who lead our community unite for Mike Eng for Senate: Congressmember Judy Chu Congressmember Grace Napolitano State Senator Connie Leyva County Supervisor Hilda Solis Congressmember
