EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The University requests approval to appoint Dr. Linda Nichols as Dean of the B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration effective August 15, 2020 at an annual salary of $255,000. The staff recommends approval.     Admission Criteria And Academic Regulations THIS CATALOGUE, issued in the spring of each year, is intended to give such a description of the work of the University and such a digest of its rules as are needed by the students. By the end of the academic year a new catalogue will have been issued superseding all previous catalogues. The catalogue year will begin on June 1 each year. STUDENT RESPONSIBILITY All colleges and universities establish certain requirements which must be met before a degree is granted. These requirements concern courses, majors, minors (if needed), grades, grade point average(s), senior residency, and other stipulations with which the student must comply. Advisors, department heads, and academic deans will help a student meet these requirements, but THE STUDENT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR FULFILLING THEM. It is the student’s responsibility to schedule needed courses, complete prerequisites where necessary, and plan ahead so that all requirements will be fulfilled. Upon the completion of required course work, personnel of The University will determine whether or not the student has met the requirements for a degree. If the requirements have not been met, the degree will be refused until such time as they have been completed. FOR THIS REASON, IT IS IMPORTANT FOR EACH STUDENT TO BECOME ACQUAINTED WITH THE DEGREE REQUIREMENTS AND TO REMAIN INFORMED OF SUBSEQUENT CHANGES. Taken together, 1,464 people lost their lives, more than 200,000 homes and 18,000 businesses were destroyed and billions of dollars in property was impacted. Hurricane Katrina approached New Orleans and the Louisiana-Mississippi state border on August 29, 2005 at a Category 5 level, and the fifth-strongest ever recorded hurricane. Before reaching land it was downgraded to a Category 3, but caused massive destruction and severe damage up to 76 miles east of the storm&rsquos center. Orleans, Plaquemines, and St. Bernard Parishes suffered widespread flooding as a result of storm surge overtopping or breaching area levees. Along the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain, up to six feet of water inundated the cities of Mandeville and Slidell. The City of New Orleans was under a mandatory evacuation for more than a month. Less than a month later on September 24, Hurricane Rita, the second strongest ever to enter the Gulf of Mexico came ashore, also as a Category 3, and flooded the coastal areas of southwestern Louisiana in the area around Lake Charles, impacting nearly a half million households.
