Education is the most empowering force in the world. It creates knowledge, builds confidence and breaks down barrier for children, it is the key to open the door to reality. To face this reality, it is essential to equip our students with knowledge and power. We at SBV constantly carry out our vision “Aspire and achieve”.

Academic calendar was designed with the guidelines and approval of the Correspondent / Principal Smt.Santhanalakshmi and the same was implemented for the Academic year 2018-2019 successfully and achieved many laurels to the institution.

We are delighted to announce the following achievements & developments during the year.

Infrastructure Developments.

 World class wash rooms were built boys and girls.  A New block for grade IX X & XI was inaugurated

Academic Achievements:-

The academic year 2018-19 was commenced with the up gradation of sri Bala Vidyalaya Sr.Sec. School. The first set for Senior Secondary had their spacious classes with the complete digitization which transformed the entire chore channel of students.

In the tenth board exam, we excelled with a centum result S.P. Logeshwer 457/500 topped the list with 456/500 Indumathy G.D Secured the second place and Ahamadullah Thasneem .A with 452/ out of 500.

Our students proved their excellence in the Board Examination securing 7 distinctions.

To enhance the reading skill among the students at the young age Book Lovers Programme for schools was introduced this year. A few English teachers were trained in story telling through which the habit reading was inculcated in the students of grade IV & V. ‘Spark’ play way method to enhance the vocabulary which is most important element to improve any language for speaking. The students of grade VIII were given the opportunity to utilize this language learning app.

16 th Annual Sports Meet:-

Sports improve our competence, bring out our mettle and gives us strength to face life’s battles. Sri Bala Vidyalaya Sr.Sec.School, , conducted its 16th Annual School Sports Day on 4/01/19 at the . The Founder Dr.M.Balakrishnana presided over the function in the accompaniment of Smt.Santhanalakshmi the Correspondent and Principal.

The Chief Guest Dr.S.Bhuvaneswari, Principal & Secretary of the Ethiraj College for women. The four houses of the school put up a great display of the March Past which enthralled the audience. The four houses of the school presented their cultural events with great exuberance and added colour and grandeur to the day.Mr.Sanjay Bhansali, the Area Commander of the Home Guard, North , was the Chief Guest for the Closing Ceremony and expressed his admiration & appreciation of the performances put up by the students.

Sports Achievement:-

Sports competitions inculcate the spirit of positive challenges and sportsmanship among the students and prepares them for the life ahead.

Sports , games and physical fitness occupy a place of importance win our curriculum.

 The boys Kho Kho team participated in the CBSE Cluster VI Kho Kho tournament at Alagu Jothi Academy and won the tournament . The team was qualified to represent the Tamil Nadu State. The team went to Haryana, representing Tamil Nadu. The tournament was hasted by Adi Sankaracharya Convent Public School Haryana.  The Throwball team of Sri Bala Vidyalaya participated in the North Cluster Throwball tournament organized at Smt.Durgadevi Choudhary Vivekananda Vidyalaya Sr.Sec.School. The team bagged the runner trophy and Nithya Shree K.L was awarded the best player of the tournament.  The Kho Kho girls team participated in the Interschool kho kho hosted by Anna Adash Mat. Hr.Sec School, our girls team bagged the 3rd place.  The Volley ball team participated in the volley ball tournament conducted by Star kids sports festival our volley ball team bagged the winners trophy. Life Sports Academy organized 3rd Beach Volley ball LSA School State Championship tournament. Akash R.B and Sanjay.R participated under 13 category. Our school team bagged the runner trophy Pranav.A of grade VII was awarded the best player.

The boys & girls Kho Kho teams and the Volley ball team participated in the Meenatchi Ammal Memorial kho-kho. Volley ball and Throwball tournament hosted by Sri Muthu Kumaran group of institution at the Mangadu public school. The girls kho-kho team bagged the winners trophy and the volley ball team and the Kho kho boys team bagged the runner trophy . Our school was awarded the overall championship trophy for their performance in the tournament.

The girls kho-kho team bagged the winners trophy in the Wesley Memorial 13th State level interschool tournament organized by the Nazareth college of Arts and Science.

Ist Mar Gregorios Memorial kho-kho and carrom tournament was hosted by Sacred Heart Matriculation Hr.Sec. School Padi, the school boys kho-kho team bagged the runner up trophy and a cash award of Rs.4000/-

North Cluster organized Interschool kho-kho Tournament under-14 for boys and girls. The tournament was held at G.R. Thangamaligai Vivekanda Vidyalaya Manali New Town Both the boys and the girls team bagged the winner’s trophy.

Other Achievements:-

SBV continues to build a culture of achievement which has high expectation that students become successful independent learners who think critically, creatively develop a range of intelligence and skills understand and make best of their own learning styles. The students of Sri Bala Vidyalaya had an opportunity to participate in various cultural and other interschool competition and bagged prizes and brought laurels to the institution.

 Young scientists Mohammed Thalha and Mohammed Siddiq of grade X participated in the Project Expo 2018 organised by Aalim Muhammed Salegh college of Engineering . The team award of Rs. 15,000/- around 120 schools and colleges participated and more than 160 models were displayed. It was a joyous moment experienced by every SBVians.  The KG students participated in the Dance, and Dramatics competitions organized by Arise N Shine in association with . The tiny tots bagged first place in both dance and dramatics competitions and made the flag of SBV to fly high.  SKNs PMC Vivekanda Vidyaaya conducted Vigyana Pradarshine Maths and Science Expo Aroung 30 students bagged prizes.  Students from grade 4-9 participated in the various competitions “Umang Utsav” organized by Terepanth Jain Vidyalaya Mat Hig.Sec School among the 30 students who participated in the competitions around 10 of them bagged prizes.

Six students from grade 5-9 participated in the Maths Expo-2019 Husna Yasmin Kiruthika.A bagged 2nd place in the Maths Expo.

Students participated in the Believe you can – 2018 organised by St Brittos group of institutions at St Britto’s school velachary. Our students actively participated in the various competition s and bagged 1st place in Mime show.

Students participated in the various competitions in connection with vegetarian day organized by Veg.Council at Shri Jain College for women at T.Nagar. Students from grade I-VIII participated and bagged prizes.

Blossoms -2018 organized by Nallalaghy Nadar Polytechnic college padi in which our students participated and bagged prizes.

Students of grade XI participated in the various competitions organized by Vidyamandir Sr.Sec. School where students bagged many prizes.

18th , All India HOPE Talent contest organized by schools India conducted Drawing and Essay writing competitions . Around 332 students participated. Many students bagged cash awards, gold, silver and bronze medals. ROBOTICA -2019 was conducted at Vellore. Around 300 students participated and many of them bagged prizes . Our school was awarded as the best school for the maximum participation in the competition

Third generation – A platform for creative kids conducted a drawing competitions for students of grade I to III class wise prizes were given for the students.

SOF – International Mathematics and Science Olympiad was conducted for the students of grade VIII,IX,X and XI. Section wise toppers were awarded certificates and medals . The school toppers for the olympaid in Maths and science were qualified for the next level.

Whizz Kids Contest was organized by Arise ‘N’ Shine in which the students from grade I – III participated and bagged prizes in ‘story telling’, and talking champ”. The competitions were held at JP Hotel.

A team of four students participated in the Quiz competition- Explorer - 2018 held at Hyder Garden Hr,Sec.School . The team bagged the winner trophy.

Times NIE School super league

The Times of India conducted the Times NIE School super League 2018-19 in our school the following students were the class toppers

Grade IV –Akilan .S grade VII – Afsiya Kulsam

Grade V-Sai .J grade VIII – B. Praveen

Grade VI- K.S. Harini grade IX – Surendar

School toppers of Times NIE :

K.S. Harini of grade VI and B. Praveen of grade VIII were awarded a Tab. They also qualify for the Round 2 school Super League 2018-19 which held on 20th Jan 2019

Mrs.Meena Sharma bagged second place in the article writing competition conducted by Times of India on “Use of technology in the field of education and same was published in the students edition.

Many inter – school competitions were conducted in connection with Independence day Childers Day celebration , Sports Day which provides a myriad opportunities for the students a platform for them to demonstrate then talents , a stepping stone to achieve greater things in life. Investiture Ceremony:-

Our school office bearers were officially sworn in, in a very impressive investiture ceremony. The ceremony began with the guard of honour for the chief guest Dr. M.Balakrishnan followed by a colourful Marchpast. The office bearers were briefed about their responsibilities.

Yoga day

The 3rd International Yoga day was celebrated to emphasize the importance of yoga in our day to day life. The students from all grades performed yoga. A few students from grade VII to X demonstrated many asanas and their benefits were explained by the teacher.

FOUNDER’S DAY CELEBRATION

Monday July 10th 2018 was not just another day at Sri Bala Vidyalaya. The day marked a significant milestone in the history of the school. All the SBVians eagerly waited to begin the morning festivities. The founder’s day was celebrated with fervor, zeal and enthusiasm in the school. An extravaganza of activities were conducted on this special day to make our founder feel that he is very special for all of the SBVians. The event had many colourful programmes which were staged both by the students and teachers. The added attraction of the celebration was the cake cutting ceremony which depicted the love for our beloved founder. Dr.M.Balakrishnan with a round of applause by each and every SBVians which lasted for five minutes.

Teacher’s Day celebrations:-

Patricia Neal a famous celebrity has rightly said “A master can tell you what he expects of you. A teacher though awakens your own expectations”. This is the eminent task of a teacher. The students of SBV celebrated Teacher’s Day acknowledging the efforts of the teachers and honored them. There were cultural programmes which were presented by both students and the teachers.

The school management felicitated the teachers on this occasion.

Children’s day Competition:-

The students from L.K.G to X std participated in the various competitions such Adzap, Acapella, Banner designing, carving and the innate talent of the students was brought to the lime light.

Children’s Day celebration:-

Children’s day was celebrated in the school assembly. The prize winners of the children’s day competitions were honoured during the celebration.

Inter house project competition “Varthula Utsav” was conducted wherein all the students participated exhibited their projects. Subject wise experts came and awarded the points for the project.

Celebrations & Functions:-

Our school celebrates most of the importants days & festivals to make the students learn about our Culture & heritage. Various festivals like Ramzan, Vinayaka Chaturthi , Christmas, Krishna Jayanthi, , Pongal etc are celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm by every SBVian.

These festivals inculcate a sense of enjoyment, a meaningful boost to their lives, remoting negativity and pressure. The students should be aware that festivals fill their lives with joy and peace.

Celebrating National Festivals:-

The National festivals like the Independence Day and Republic Day are celebrated with the utmost respect and love for the nation. National Library Week Celebration Sri Bala Vidyalaya Sr. Sec School celebrated the inaugural function of the library week on 16th November 2018. The whole celebration focussed on the usage of the library. The valedictory of the National Library week was celebrated on 20th Nov, 2018 at in the school auditorium.

Parent Seminar “Parenting , today is challenging learning about parenting is enriching”

A few workshops were conducted for the parents for effective parenting which the parents were given opportunity to classify their doubts in the challenges faced by them in bringing up their children.

Open Day:-

Open Days were held at the end of every examination to discuss about the academic performance made by the children.

Parents were called for a meeting with the teachers of classes I-X to interact, update and share the concerns of the teachers.

Learning through fun for KG

Various activities like Colors day, Cereals day, Fruit & Vegetable days were organized to enhance the teaching & learning process of the Tiny Tots.

Co-curricular Activities:-

A host of Co-Curricular activities have been organized during the year for the students of Grade I –X.

“All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”

Various activities were held by the different clubs to develop a child physically, morally socially and mentally and to hone skills in Co-scholastic areas. Regular club Activities were held in which the students participated and displayed their caliber.

Field trip

To develop the visual literacy and to integrate the field trip actively into our curriculum, students were taken on educational trips. These field trips helped the students to get energized, and to have an opportunity to determine what they have learned and how they have learnt.

AACHARYA VANDHANA:- Every year the students of grade X are given their hall tickets in this ceremony. The students of grade IX host this ceremony. The students of grade X have the opportunity to express their view about their alma mater. The teachers in turn give them beneficial tips to attend their First Board Exams.

Steppes’ Day Celebration at SBV The steppe’s day celebration was held on 21 March 2019 . The occasion was graced by Mr. V. Ranganathan, New life Programmer who delivered a motivating speech with information for parents as well as students. . Salangai Pooja Sri Bala Vidyalaya Sr.Sec.School had its first Salangai poojai of the young dancers of Abinaya Shestra, the dance school of SBV on 22nd March 2019 in the school auditorium. Salangai poojai is a surreal experience in which the budding artist their family and friends, enthusiastically, participated in the auspicious celebrations. Smt.Chitra Muralidharan, Artistic Director, Nrithyakshetra Dance Academy has graced the celebration. Our Founder, Dr.M.BalaKrishnan the life line of Sri Bala Vidyalaya also presided to encourage the budding dancers of “Abhinayashetra” and the pillars of the Salangai Pooja were honored. Kindergarten Graduation Day at SBV Graduation is an exciting time . It is a moment that signifies warm memories of the past and big dreams for the future.

Sri Bala Vidyalaya Sr.Sec.School organized the Graduation Ceremony on 23rd March 2019 in the school auditorium to commend the performance of the young enthusiastic learners of the Upper Kindergarten. The occasion was graced by Mrs. Deepa Manivannan, renowned Entrepreneur and the guest of honor Master Sabari Venkat a child Prodigy and a renowned , Motivational Orator from . Many milestones have been achieved and many still have to be reached. We at SBV will continue our unceasing efforts to mould the young minds into well balanced personalities with confidence and zeal befitting the standards of this portal of education. This report is a sincere attempt to showcase our progress in terms of achievements and activities during the year.
