He will be speaking about the work that WWC does, and will address some of o o the key wilderrress issues in Washington, with an emphasis on the Olympic Peninsula. .9. .s2 a of One of the recent issues in which the WWC has taken a leadership role has been the creation of Ea) the Wild Sky Wilderness area. In May, the Wild Sky F i Wilderness Act was signed into law, creating the o first o new national forest wilderness area in the state in E 0) more than 20 years. This legislation will protect more co than 106,000 acres of scenic forest in the Wild o tU Skykomish River region, anarea of biologically rich .C o) forests and critical salmon habitat. C= a) Mr. Fernsler's background includes 26 years of 0) professional experience working with non-profit o_ E organizations, including Habitat for Humanity of g.3 Grays Harbor. He spent 5 years promoting sustainable economic development in the southwest corner €= of o LL Washington as Economic Development Director of the .9. Columbia-Pacific Resource Conservation and o @ Economic Development District. He has 0) worked for C Olympic Park Institute, Sound Experience,Wolf =C Haven International, and Greenpeace. .o G =C His knowledge of wild areas comes from years of =o 6 a firsthand experience.
