SLI On-Line Courses Helpful Information Tips: "Helpful Information Tip #1": The preparation process to take an online course is different than preparing to take a traditional, in-person, on-site, in-classroom course. One of the first things an online student must do is acquire an electronic device (computer, mobile phone, or tablet), on which they can take the course.

"Helpful Information Tip #2": Online courses are student centered, which means that instructors serve mostly as guides through the course material. Participation in online courses requires ambition, concentration and most importantly, a calm, organized space specifically designated for your studies.

"Helpful Information Tip #3": It is ideal if you have an extra room that you can turn into an office, but if this is not possible, just having an area of your home that can be devoted solely to your online coursework is the next best thing. When reading course materials or studying, some students prefer to have complete silence, while others like to play music or have some other sort of background noise to stimulate their brain. Regardless of your personal preference, it is best to have a clean, well-lit environment.

"Helpful Information Tip #4": Maybe you have a family that demands a lot of your attention or an unruly dog that nips at your feet every chance it gets. In this case, taking a short trip down to the local library, bookstore or coffee shop with wireless internet access can be your outlet to a peaceful work space.

"Helpful Information Tip #5": Before you begin the course, take the time to make sure that the electronic device (computer, mobile phone, or tablet) you plan to use has the proper specs and is equipped with the required software. A device that was manufactured within the last three years should be able to handle your online school program.
