NWFB & open up real-time arrival data to “Data.Gov.HK” and display Estimated Arrival Time for all departures of jointly operated routes on mobile app and website soon

（26 July 2019, ） To facilitate the development of Smart City in Hong Kong, (“NWFB”) and Citybus signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government in March 2019 to confirm opening up the real-time arrival data of all NWFB and Citybus franchised routes with “Data.Gov.HK” for free use by the public. As procurement of additional computer facilities, development of software system and increase of network bandwidth have completed, the Companies are now conducting internal tests and expect to open up the real-time arrival data to “Data.Gov.HK” by early-August.

NWFB and Citybus strive to provide accurate bus information for all passengers by making good use of information technology. The Companies have been introducing new features to the mobile app from time to time, not only “Next Bus” arrival enquiry service on all routes, but also “Service Disruption Reminder” and “Instant Incident Mode”. NWFB and Citybus have long been actively discussing with the Motor Bus and for exchanging real-time arrival data of jointly operated routes, so that both companies can display all departures’ estimated arrival time of jointly operated routes. Both bus companies have reached consensus on the exchange of real time data and the final phase of internal test is underway. Estimated arrival time of all departures of jointly operated routes will be shown on the website and mobile app of both bus companies soon.
