This is on pp6-15 below in red text with a few subsequent additions in blue. Attempt to answer the NIC’s broad questions Q1 to Q4 below. References are to the pages and tables in the NIC’s Interim Report (see header.) Question 1: Please provide specific sources for evidence that the Commission could use in estimating costs and the impact of proposals on journey time and capacity. For schemes already proposed other than by Railfuture, such as those listed on p36, much information is already available from Network Rail, SNTBs (TfN, Midlands Connect), local and combined authorities, TOCs, DfT. Campaign organisations. For additional schemes put forward by Railfuture, further work would need to be done, though campaign groups such as SENRUG, SELRAP, MEMRAP and CRIL may have initial estimates for specific lines or areas. -

Big changes to tracks and signalling will mean more reliable services and fewer delays at Nottingham station, and the railways will be able to cope with an increasing demand for rail travel in the future. PUBLIC ITEM NO. 8 DERBYSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL REGULATORY LICENSING AND APPEALS COMMITTEE 29 February 2016 Report of the Director of Legal Services Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 Claim to add a Footpath between Johnson Drive and Restricted Byway No. 12 - Parishes of ‘Heanor and Loscoe’ and ‘Aldercar and Langley Mill’. 1. Purpose of the Report The purpose of this report is to enable Members to determine an application to amend the Definitive Map and Statement by adding a Public Footpath between Johnson Drive - Parish of Heanor and Loscoe and Restricted Byway No. 12 – Parish of Aldercar and Langley Mill. 2. Information and Analysis 2.1 Judith Wooley (“the Applicant”) submitted an application to Derbyshire County Council (“the Council”) dated 25 May 2012, to add a public footpath to the Definitive Map and Statement, in the Parishes of ‘Heanor and Loscoe’ and ‘Aldercar and Langley Mill’. The application is accompanied by 20 user evidence forms (UEFs) (one form was submitted by a married couple but was only signed by the husband and the evidence shall be treated as that of one individual). 2.2 A plan showing the claimed route is attached (Appendix 1). 2.3 The claimed route is approximately 470 metres long. User Evidence 2.4 One of the users refers to an incident circa 2005 when she was ‘kicked to the ground’ while using the route. She also recalls the route being diverted by some landowners who diverted water from the brook onto the footpath circa 2007. The Applicant recalls it being diverted/blocked due to ‘house building and opencast’, but does not give dates or details: it may be she is referring to the building of Johnson Drive circa 1980 as the claimed route itself is unaffected by any building in the vicinity. -

Introduction Please use this form to apply to the Office of Rail Regulation (ORR) for: • directions under section 17 of the Railways Act 1993 for a new track access contract. Section 17 allows companies who want the right to use a railway facility (including Network Rail’s network) to apply to ORR for access if they are not able (for whatever reason) to reach agreement with the facility owner. • approval under section 18 of the Railways Act 1993 for a new track access contract. Section 18 allows companies to apply for approval if they have agreed terms with the facility owner. • approval of a proposed amendment (agreed by both parties) under section 22 of the Railways Act 1993 to an existing track access contract. • directions under section 22A of the Railways Act 1993 for an amendment to an existing track access contract. Section 22A allows anyone seeking an amendment to an existing track access contract which allows the operation of more extensive services to apply for a compulsory amendment if they are not able (for whatever reason) to reach agreement with the facility owner. If it is the facility owner, Network Rail will carry out a pre-application consultation. In this case fill in this form up to section 7.3. You should fill in the rest of the form after the consultation and before applying to ORR. -

As It Is Only an Hour from London and Located in 'The Midlands' (Literally
As it is only an hour from London and located in ‘the Midlands’ (literally, the middle of this small country), Leicester is easily accessed from many directions. For long-haul visitors: Leicester is easily reached from all London airports (with direct train links from Luton and Stansted, and only one transfer required from Heathrow, Gatwick, and City airports). Birmingham Airport is equally well-accessible. Manchester is also an option, with train and taxi connections. For European and Northern Irish visitors: In addition to all of the above, Leicester is also serviced by a more continentally-focused airport (East Midlands—EMA). It is only a short bus ride to Leicester’s city centre. Connections from the Eurostar are incredibly convenient, as the Eurostar arrives at the station where trains depart London for Leicester. The Eurostar and East Midlands waiting areas are literally on top of one another, and Eurostar trains can sometimes be seen departing alongside East Midlands trains on parallel tracks. They literally could not be closer! For the adventurous, ferries from Ireland, the Netherlands and France are also an option, as they arrive in the South and East of England, and have train links. From the island of Britain: Leicester is conveniently located in the middle of the country, making it easy to reach for visitors from all regions of Britain. It is a hub for travel across eastern/central Britain, with almost all trains stopping. While many equate British urban life with London, those who live in the UK know that the country is actually home to a huge number of smaller cities. -
