For more information: Elizabeth (Betsy) Brenner Publisher 414-224-2954 Journal Sentinel Names Vice Presidents of Advertising and Online Sales MILWAUKEE, WI – September 23, 2008 – Journal Sentinel today named Margie Cochrane as senior vice president advertising and Daryl Hively as vice president of online sales. Says Betsy Brenner, president and chief operating officer of Journal Communication’s publishing group, “Margie and Daryl both have significant and successful sales experience both in print and online. They are excellent additions to our executive team.” Margie Cochrane has more than 20 years of industry experience. She joins Journal Sentinel from Gannett where she was Director of Advertising for the Arizona Republic in Phoenix and responsible for the sales management for four divisions with combined revenues over $100 million and 123 employees. Cochrane led the restructure of the Retail sales department at The Republic, Gannett’s largest metro U.S. newspaper. In Phoenix, she also developed and launched 18 community newspapers and also oversaw the Magazine and Custom Publishing division. Prior to Gannett, Cochrane spent 15 years at Denver’s Rocky Mountain News in sales management positions. “We’re excited to have Margie lead our advertising sales group. Margie’s vast sales management experience combined with her deep knowledge in major accounts and her experience launching and building specialty and community publications will make her a perfect fit to lead the team,” says Hugh McGarry, senior vice president of sales and marketing. Daryl Hively has more than 23 years of experience in publishing and interactive media. Most recently, he was vice president, interactive media for the Journal Register Company in Yardley, Pennsylvania. There, he oversaw the day to day operation of 22 daily newspaper websites and affiliated weekly publications. He was instrumental in expanding the online sales staff, helped increase web traffic and led a strategic redesign of the newspaper websites. Prior to the Journal Register, he was with EW Scripps Newspapers/Interactive in Knoxville, Tennessee, Cleveland.com/Advance Publications in Cleveland, Ohio. Says Sharon Prill, senior vice president and general manager of Journal’s Interactive Division, “Daryl’s extensive sales and marketing background and deep understanding of the digital space will be an asset to our Journal Interactive division and to Journal Company as a whole. We welcome him to our Interactive team.” Cochrane will join Journal Sentinel on October 20 and Hively plans to start on October 6.
