High Paleoproterozoic radiogenic heat production is assumed. The material viscosity is temperature-dependent following the Arrhenius law. The experiments use two sets of rheological parameters for the crust: dry (granite/felsic granulite/mafic granulite) and wet (granite/diorite/mafic granulite). The results of the modeling are compared to seismic reflection sections and surface geological observations from the Paleoproterozoic Svecofennian orogen. Numerical modelling is performed with Ellipsis, a particle-in-cell finite element code suitable for 2D thermo-mechanical modelling of lithospheric deformation. It uses Lagrangian particles for tracking material interfaces and histories, which allow recording of material P-T-t paths. Plateau-models are based on a 480 km long section of 65 km-thick three-layer plateau crust. In the plateau margin-models, a transition from 65 km thick plateau to 40 km thick foreland is imposed in the middle of the model. -

An earlier compilation of the post-Caledonian fault system in the Caledonian domain of Finnmark is reassessed in the light of more recent diverse data acquired from a combination of general geology onshore, well data and seis- mic reflection profiling in the offshore areas of the Finnmark Platform, and evidence of multiphase faulting farther south in Troms and Nordland. While age determinations on fault rocks are still lacking in Finnmark, the character and trends of faults on-land, to the south, and offshore in the Barents Sea domain, allow deductions to be made regarding the likely ages and reactivation histories of some of the major faults. Taking the specific example of the NE-SW-trending Vargsund-Langfjorden fault, a component of Mesozoic reactivation is inferred, and it is suggested that Mesozoic sedimentary rocks may lie concealed beneath outer Altafjorden in a half-grabenal structure in the hangingwall of this major fault.Other,small,fault-controlled basins containing possible Mesozoic sedimentary rocks may also exist in the near-shore areas of western Finnmark. National Museums in Sápmi Arne Bugge Amundsen Summary A case of high complexity, when discussed in a national museum perspective, is Sápmi, the accepted name of the multi-state area of the ’Sámi nation’ of Northern Europe. In the Sápmi case, museum history should be told in a retrospective manner. It is quite a recent phenomenon that the Sámi population in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia – after centuries of political suppression and decades of systematic assimilation strategies from the governments – is regarded as a nation and with Sápmi – the transnational area where the Sámi population has its traditional centre – as its geographical location. In this case, ‘the nation’ is conceived as a cultural and social entity with strong political ambitions both within and across established national borders in the region. Hence, there are no old national museums and no politically acknowledged Sámi state but explicit ideas on ‘national identity’. On the one hand, the Sámi population and the Sámi culture to a certain extent were included in the national narratives of Norway, Sweden and Finland in the nineteenth century, then mostly as an exotic element of the nation and exemplifying ‘primitive cultures’ of the north. On the other hand, the Sámi nation is a cultural construction of recent origin, albeit with some political institutions within and across established states. -

Dating of late- to post-tectonic Sveconorwegian granitic intrusions from South Norway by the SIMS U-Pb method on zircons and by internal Pb-Pb isochrons on rock-forming minerals indicates a major event of granitic magmatism all across southern Norway in the period 950 to 920 Ma. This magmatic event included emplacement of mantle- derived magma into the source region of granitic magmas in the lower crust east of the Mandal-Ustaoset shear zone, and formation of hybrid magmas containing crustal and mantle-derived components. -

For kommuner med omsøkte løyper nord for Varangerfjorden, i kommunene Nesseby, Vadsø, Vardø og Båtsfjord, kommer Fylkesmannen med et eget vedtak den 4. mai. Dette da det på nåværende tidspunkt ikke er avklart om reindriften i år må gjennomføre reinflytting langs kysten grunnet store snømengder på fjellet. Fylkesmannens vurdering Generelle vurderinger Et viktig formål med lov om motorisert ferdsel i utmark (motorferdselloven) er å regulere motorferdsel i utmark og vassdrag med sikte på å verne om naturmiljøet. Motorferdselforbudet fra og med 5. mai til og med 30. juni er gitt i §§ 4 og 9 i nasjonal forskrift til motorferdselloven. Bakgrunnen for motorferdselforbudet er at rein, fugl og annet dyreliv er svært sårbare på denne årstiden, samt at det lett oppstår skader på vegetasjon og terreng i vårløsningen. Kommunene har i 2020 søkt via et digitalt søknadsskjema. Her har kommunene gjort vurderinger av sikkerhet, snøforhold, naturmangfold, innhentet godkjenning fra berørte reindriftsinteresser og prioritert omsøkte løyper ut ifra behov/bruk. Kommunene har selv gjort vurderinger etter naturmangfoldloven §§ 8-12. Kunnskap om naturens sårbarhet om våren og negative effekter av motorferdsel i utmark er vel dokumentert i en rekke vitenskapelige studier. -

(Asha Group) of Ediacaran-Middle Cambrian(?) age along with the results obtained from the Early Devonian Takaty Fm. are presented. The age of the Asha Group is traditionally labeled as Upper Vendian in the Russian stratigraphic chart that overlaps with the Ediacaran in the International stratigraphic chart. The dZr whose ages fall within the age-interval of (500-750 Ma) are common in the Basu and Kukkarauk Fm. These ages are typical for crystalline complexes in the Pre- Uralides-Timanides orogen. The identification of zircons with this age range agrees with commonly adopted interpretations for the depositional origin of the Asha Group as a molasse resulting from the erosion of that orogenic belt. Based on the estimates of the youngest ages of dZr along with the tentative identification of inarticulate brachiopods in the Kukkarauk Fm., it appears that the upper part of the Asha Group may extend into the Middle Cambrian. -

Analysis of data published on basement faulting in the Baltic region makes it possible to distinguish the >700 km long East European Craton (EEC) interior fault zone extending from the Leba Ridge in the southern Baltic Sea across the Latvian cities of Liepaja and Riga to Pskov in Russia (LeRPFZ). The complex geometry and pattern of its faults, with different styles and flower structures, suggests that the LeRPFZ includes a significant horizontal component. Exceptionally high fault amplitudes with signs of pulsative activities reveal that the LeRPFZ has been acting as an early Palaeozoic tectonic hinge-line, accommodating bulk of the far-field stresses and dividing thus the NW EEC interior into NW and SW halves. The LeRPFZ has been playing a vital role in the evolution of the Baltic Ordovician–Silurian Basin, as a deep-facies protrusion of this basin (Livonian Tongue) extending into the remote NW EEC interior adheres to this fault zone. The Avalonia–Baltica collision record suggests that transpression with high shear stress, forcing the SE blocks in the LeRPFZ to move obliquely to the NE, reigned in the Ordovician.
