SHEIGRA DXPEDITION LOG 1985-2020 A compilation of mediumwave logs from Sheigra DXpeditions Part 1: The Americas Sheigra DXpedition Log This is a compilation of logs from past Sheigra DXpeditions for stations heard in the Americas (a separate compilation has been made for those stations heard in Africa, Asia and the Pacific). Sheigra is a small crofting village in the North West Scottish Highlands. The A838 makes its way to Rhiconich where the B801 branches off to Kinlochbervie. To arrive the traveller must pass through some of the most spectacular scenery in the world. The Scottish Highlands are a vast and unique place. At the head of Loch Inchard, the side road follows the northern shore to the fishing port of Kinlochbervie, four miles northwest of Rhiconich. Beautifully situated, the B801, both single and double tack, is the narrow winding road leading north-westwards from Rhiconich with splendid views towards the lonely mountain Reay Forest, dominated by Foinaven and heads west to Kinlochbervie. Through the crofting townships of Achriesgill, Inshegra, Badcall Inchard and Oldshoremore to Blairmore and Balchrick, the road continues for some four miles towards the open sea with fine views, and ends beyond Balchrick at Sheigra, the last habitation on the west coast and a small hamlet of the western coastline. The first visit to the area took place in 1979, when Dave Kenny, Chris Greenway and James Hobson ventured north for a mini-DXpedition based in nearby Oldshoremore, just a short distance away from Sheigra. The first DXpedition to Sheigra itself took place in October 1985 with Mark Hattam, John Faulkner, Ian Kelly and David Hyams travelling north to Sutherland, whilst the latest was in October 2020 with Dave Kenny and Alan Pennington. As the results show in the two compilations, some excellent reception has been heard over the years and Sheigra can boast having been the place where both Alaska and Australia have been heard in the British Isles, probably for the first time since the 1930's. Both compilations have been put together from all of the past Sheigra DXpedition Reports, with extra logs added from some personal logbooks. This explains why there may be additional entries for some stations on certain DXpeditions. On the other hand, some participants didn't log the easier-to-hear stations on some of the earlier DXpeditions, which is quite understandable, hence the absence of these when they would have almost certainly been present. There may very well be errors or omissions in both compilations. However, these can be corrected and a new new version made without difficulty. Please advise Tony Rogers of anything that needs amending. Thanks. The original DX base where it all began in 1985! The aerials were fed out of the window in the kitchen extension to the right. The two cottages used since November 2002 appear in the photograph at the end of the compilation.     Clarenville Bonavista Regional Council of the Rural Secretariat Annual Activity Report 2005-06 Cape Random Message from the Chair We, as council members, have prepared the 2005-06 Annual Activity Report for the Clarenville-Bonavista Regional Council of the Rural Secretariat in accordance with the Transparency and Accountability Act . As Chairperson, I submit and sign this annual activity report on behalf of the council as a symbol of the council’s accountability for the results achieved and any variances contained herein. The mandate of the Regional Council for the Rural Secretariat is to advise government on the future sustainability of the Clarenville-Bonavista region. To be effective in this process, it has been important for council members to understand the key issues affecting current program development and future policy direction as these affect citizens residing in our 109 communities. The Clarenville-Bonavista Regional Council was appointed in August 2005 and held its first meeting in October 2005. The contents of this report outline the council’s activities for the remaining five months of the fiscal year. The Regional Council has been very busy understanding issues related to demographic change, infrastructure, skills development, private sector investment and the provision of public services and programs. These first meetings served as an orientation to the council’s role and responsibilities. The council received regional specific information that enabled it to better understand the opportunities and challenges within the region. Over the coming months, the council will work towards the identification of regional priorities and will initiate a citizen engagement process to begin to further refine these priorities.

    SMB FEE INCREASE PROPOSAL FEBRUARY 27, 2019 ​ (RES​ UBMITTED JANUARY 31, 2020) that there will be a single fee known as the Student Media Fee for the UHM campus. This will reflect the current state of student media whereby all student media programs are governed by the Student Media Board. 2. Approve the proposed fee increase for all fee-paying students at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, regardless of credit load, according to the proposed fee schedule in Appendix A. The combined fee for students will be $38 per student per semester (Fall and Spring semesters). RECOMMENDED EFFECTIVE DATE: Effective date of implementation will be Fall 2020. ADDITIONAL COST: The fee will increase AY2020 by $17 and AY2021 by $5. PURPOSE The purpose of this request is two fold: 1. Provide the Student Media Board with the necessary funding to sustain the University’s 98 year commitment to the student voice at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. Student media programs rely on mandatory student fees in order to deliver effective programs to students and the community. The fee funds five student media programs of which 140 students directly engage and benefit from them. 2. Streamline existing fee structure from two separate fees (BOP Fee and the BCA Fee) to a single fee that funds all student media programs that are under the purview of the Student Media Board. This will allow the Board increasing flexibility yet accountability over all of their programs. BACKGROUND In 1967, the University of Hawaiʻi Board of Regents (BOR) approved the charter for the Board of Publications (BOP) to be the governing authority of Ka Leo, the student-run newspaper since ​ ​ 1922; Hawaiʻi Review, the literary magazine which started in 1973; and Mānoa Now, the ​ ​ ​ ​ student media marketing and public relations unit that uses multiple digital and event platforms.

Tekel, hereby submit my support for Mr. John Pavlica, Jr.'s Motion to Dismiss the Commission's Report and Order, as adopted October 10, 2002, which currently allows the preliminary use of In-Band, On-Channel (IBOC) digital audio broadcasting (also known by the marketing name "HD Radio") on the AM and FM radio bands. For over a decade, various attempts have been made at designing and implementing an IBOC system for the U.S. radio airwaves, but these attempts have been unsuccessful due to numerous flaws, and iBiquity's current IBOC system is no different. As currently designed and authorized, IBOC is an inherently flawed system that has the potential to cause great harm to the viability, effectiveness, and long-term success of existing analog AM and FM radio broadcasting services. IBOC is a proprietary system Currently, there is only one proponent of an IBOC system whose design has been submitted, studied, and approved -- that of iBiquity Digital Corporation (iBiquity). This is an unprecedented case of the use of a proprietary broadcasting system. Virtually all other enhancements to broadcasting services that have been introduced over the years have been borne out of competition between the designs of various proponents: AM Stereo, FM Stereo, color television, multi-channel television sound, and most recently, High Definition television (HDTV).     2.0 The Bonavista Peninsula Management District 2.1 General Description The Bonavista Peninsula comprises a significant portion of Forest Management District 2 (see Figure 1). The District is bounded by channels within Bonavista Bay known as Clode Sound and Chandler Reach on the north and by Trinity Bay on the east. District 2 narrows on its southern boundary, where it is bounded by an extension of Trinity Bay known as Bull Arm and by the northern bottom of Placentia Bay. The western boundary is formed by Pipers Hole River and by a line which meanders north from the headwaters of that river system through Middle Pond and Norsemans Pond to a point just north of Ocean Pond. From there the boundary follows a straight line east for approximately 8 kilometres and then north along a straight line for Figure 2.1. Map showing boundaries of Forest Management District 02 approximately 15 kilometres, through Ams Pond and Bittern Pond to a point on the ridge that lies between the Terra Nova and Northwest Rivers. Then the boundary follows a generally eastern direction, to the north of the Northwest River system, for approximately16 kilometres to intersect with a corner of the Terra Nova National Park boundary. From there it follows the Park boundary in a southerly direction for approximately 3.5 kilometres and then to the east for another 1.5 kilometres to the junction of Salmon Brook and Clode Sound. The population of the District is 25,290 (census - 2004). The peninsula portion of the District is the most densely populated, with coastal communities scattered around its sheltered bays.
