Na twintig jaar als toernooidirecteur van het Future Alkmaar met vrijwilligers uit de hele regio steeds iets heel bijzonders te hebben georganiseerd, was dit mijn eerste ervaring met de jonge garde van TC Bakkum. Ik vond het een eer om van deze ploeg de toernooidirecteur te zijn. Nieuw voor mij was de hele gang van zaken met de inkwartiering. Dat ben je verplicht als je een ITF Grade 2 toernooi bent, een onwijze klus. Het grootste deel van de spelers verblijft de week bij gastgezinnen. Dat was vroeger altijd zo, maar mocht een aantal jaren niet meer. Dat maakte het voor mij, als 55-jarig lid van TC Bakkum, weer extra leuk om oude gezichten te zien op het park.
