FA Vase Winners: 2002, 2009, 2010, 2011 WHITLEY BAY FC BW3 Welcome to Hillheads WHITLEY BAY v BILLINGHAM SYNTHONIA

EBAC NORTHERN LEAGUE FIRST DIVISION Saturday 16th February 2013

Good afternoon and welcome to Hillheads Park for today’s Ebac Northern League game against Billingham Synthonia. I would like to extend a very warm welcome to all players, officials and supporters of the Synners and I hope they enjoy their afternoon with us. Games between our sides in recent seasons have usually gone the way of the home team so from a Whitley point of view let’s hope that continues today! Back in September when we met on Teesside, we took an early lead but eventually went down 2-1. That seems a long time ago now, as does the warm and sunny weather that we enjoyed that day! Our last three games, including of course Sunday’s memorable friendly against Metalist Kharkiv, have ended in draws and it is important that we get back to winning ways to maintain our challenge for third place. There is still a long way to go and we will have 20 more league games to play after today as well as at least two more cup ties. While Tuesday night’s game against Celtic Nation was far from a classic, Craig McFarlane’s late equaliser showed the tremendous spirit there is in the side and it was good to see some of the youngsters from the reserves getting time on the pitch. With the hectic schedule t hat lies ahead there will doubtless be more opportunities for the likes of Andy Robertson and Lewis Burns to stake their claim for regular places in the side. We are back here at Hillheads on Tuesday evening when we meet Second Division high fliers Ryhope CW in the 3rd Round of the League Cup. Ryhope have already scored 100 league goals this season so it looks like being an exciting game! Paul McIlduff Chairman HOWAY THE BAY! Enjoy Today’s Game
