The scheme promotes self-employment of the youth. It also promotes production of green energy. This scheme mainly targets migrant workers & youth who have returned to their homes after leaving their jobs in different parts of the country due to covid-19 lockdown. Andhra Pradesh: Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy launched Jagananna Vidya Kanuka Scheme Andhra Pradesh CM Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has launched Jagan Anna Vidya kanuka scheme. The state government has allocated Rs 650 Crs for the scheme. Under the scheme the state government will provide school kits to 43.32 to lakh govt school student. 1 Andhra Pradesh State of India Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan Chief minister Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy Goa: First to become Har Ghar Jal State; to provide 100% Tap Water Connections On October 9, 2020, the Ministry of Jal Shakti announced that Goa has become the first state in India to provide 100% tap water connections in rural areas. Around 2.3 lakh households were covered in the state. On its successful implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission, Goa has become the first “Har Ghar Jal State” to provide 100% household tap connection in rural areas. In order to strengthen water testing facilities in the state, Goa is in the process of getting 14 water quality testing laboratories. Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ inaugurates Gyan Circle Ventures The Gyan Circle Ventures, a MeitY funded Technology Business Incubator (TBI) of Indian Institute of Information Technology, Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh is inaugurated by the Union Minister for Education Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’. 2 Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal launched Yudh Prasdushan Ke Virudh: Mega Anti-Pollution Campaign On Oct 5, 2020, the Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal launched a Mega Anti-Pollution Campaign, called “Yudh Prasudushan ke Virudh”. The campaign was launched to reduce pollution levels in Delhi. During the campaign, the Delhi Government will focus on technology developed by Pusa Agriculture Institute to control stubble burning. CSIR-CMERI transfers technology of community level Water Purification Council of Scientific & Industrial Research(CSIR) was transfers “High Flow Rate Fluoride & Iron removal” technology to a Howrah based private firm. This technology was used for community level water purification. Water purification system have flow rate capacity of 10,000 ltrs per hour. Uses commonly available raw materials such gravel, sand & adsorbent materials. The technology comprises 3 stage purification process that purifies water according to standards set. The permissible level of Fluoride & Iron in drinking water is 1.5 ppm and 0.3 ppm respectively. PPM is Parts Per Million. Mande Founded 26 September 1942 South Central Railway Introduced “Man of the Month” safety awards South Central Railway has given “Man of the Month” safety awards to 45 employees for taking timely action to prevent dangerous conditions. Gajanan Mallya, Head, South Central Railway presented Man of the Month awards. On 08 October observed Air Force day Air Force day observes on 08 Oct 2020 every year across country. This year India celebrates the 88th anniversary of the official foundation day of the force as India Air Force was established on 8 October 1932 by British Empire. Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan passes away On Oct 8, 2020, Union Consumer Affairs Minister Shri Ram Vilas Paswan passed away at the age of 74. He underwent heart surgery at Delhi’s Fortis hospital. 3 CEPI to include India among six other countries for COVID-19 Vaccine Testing The Global Initiative of Coalition of Epidemic Preparedness for Innovation, CEPI has identified six labs from countries such as Britain, Netherlands, Italy, Canada, Bangladesh and India. The THSTI lab of India has recognised under the global network of CEPI for assessment of COVID- 19 vaccines. THSTI is Translational Health Science and Technology Institute. It is an autonomous institute of Department of Biotechnology. Their appointments were cleared by the Appointment Committee of the Cabinet chaired by PM Modi. The current MPC was set up by the GoI in 2016 following the finalization of Monetary Policy Framework Agreement. The framework introduced inflation targeting. Ravi Chopra Committee: SC Orders violated in Chardham Project The Supreme Court appointed Ravi Chopra Committee has alleged that the Chardham road project has violated court order. The Supreme Court had ruled that width of roads constructed under Chardham project shall be 5.5 metres. This was ruled based on the recommendation of Ministry of Road Transport and Highway (MoRTH) for mountain roads. To the contrary, the GoI had sanctioned road width of 10-12 metres. The MoRTH has allowed the 700 km road project to continue with 10-metre width. This according to the Committee is a contravention of the SC. The scientists at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, PUSA have found a low-cost, effective way to deal stubble burning problem called bio-decomposer spraying. Delhi City in India Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal AYUSH Standard Treatment Protocol launched On October 6, 2020, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare released “AYUSH Standard Treatment Protocol”. It consists of self-care guidelines on preventive health measures. The programme was launched under the Bharat Net Project of the Centre. The programme connects village panchayats and will provide twenty types of pro-people services. This includes providing ration cards at door steps. It is a digital form of the “Seva Setu” Programme. Before his retirement, Justice Anant Dave served as an Acting Chief Justice of the Gujarat HC before the incumbent Chief Justice Vikram Nath. PV Edge 2020 organised by NITI Aayog NITI Aayog, Ministry of New & Renewable Energy and Invest India will organise a Global symposium called the “India PV Edge 2020”. The summit aims to unveil and promote cutting edge technologies in solar manufacturing in India. India has set an ambitious target of achieving 450 GW of renewable energy by 2030. Of this, 300 GW is to be of solar.India aims to increase solar deployment in order reduce prices of solar manufacturing. The cutting edge solar manufacturing stands on three pillars namely o Disruptive Photo-Voltaic Chemistries o Utilisation of Build of Material components such as special coatings and glasses o Manufacturing of custom-engineered advanced production equipment. The Summit will hold sessions on “Wafers and Cells” and also sessions on “Modules and Production Equipment” and “Supply Chain”.
